MyOpinion: Community Pharmacies and negotiating entities are spending an excessive amount of time on negotiations rather than focusing on innovative to make the pharmacy more profitable. Relying too heavily on the NHS and government has limited the ability of pharmacy businesses to think outside the box, leading to a crisis within the sector. Negotiations should be a supplemental source of income, rather than the primary focus. It is crucial that we reassess the way pharmacy businesses operate in the UK in order to ensure the sustainability of the profession. This lack of innovation by the sector is also affecting pharmacy teams, leaves businesses desperate for NHS services which are not profitable but time consuming. Many pharmacists are struggling with low wages. Some pharmacists are being forced to work multiple jobs just to make ends meet. #PharmacyCrisis #InnovateNotNegotiate #RethinkPharmacyBusiness #SustainableProfession #PharmacyTeamStruggles #LowWagesImpact

Way to go, Vermont! From #NCPA - Vermont Gov. Phil Scott (R) signed into law H 233, which strengthens PBM reform and oversight. The law requires PBM certification instead of the state’s previous policy of registration. The law also prohibits spread pricing, gag clauses, and making classifications of drugs beyond what is established by state and federal governments and the Board of Pharmacy! Check out more details below. https://lnkd.in/gS2YERg6

I Help Organizations Increase Revenue and Capacity through Identifying Impactful Partners and Talent.
Governor Youngkin's recent veto of legislation to establish a Prescription Drug Affordability Board in Virginia is a disappointing setback in the fight to rein in skyrocketing prescription drug costs. The bipartisan bills, SB274 and HB570, would have created an independent board to review the cost of life-saving medications and set upper payment limits on drugs deemed unaffordable by many. This veto comes despite overwhelming public support, 75% of Virginia voters are in favor of creating a Prescription Drug Affordability Board. This decision comes at a time when Americans pay more for prescription drugs than any other country, and Virginians pay 36% more than the national average. The impact of high drug prices on patients is severe, with 35% of Virginians choosing not to fill a prescription in 2023 due to cost.
Gov. Glenn Youngkin late Friday vetoed a bill that would have prohibited drugmaker contract pharmacy restrictions on grantee covered entities in the state. “Virginia’s federally qualified health centers serve as the Commonwealth’s safety nets and provide care around the clock, yet they’re hanging on by a thread to keep their doors open,” said Tracy Douglas, VCHA’s CEO. “The governor’s veto is a step backward in helping many hard-working people afford their prescriptions and maintain their health. This decision also undermines small businesses, like the pharmacies that community health centers contract with.” #ValueCHCs #Protect340B
