"What do nonprofit hospitals reward? An examination of CEO compensation in nonprofit hospitals" (2022) by K. Mulligan, Seema Choksy, Catherine Ishitani, and J. Romley. This paper re-examines the determinants of nonprofit hospital CEO compensation with a focus on various hospital performance measures post-Affordable Care Act (ACA). The findings show mixed evidence on the significance of financial performance and uncompensated care in CEO compensation, with patient satisfaction emerging as a significant factor. The study suggests that nonprofit hospitals balance financial health and their mission in setting CEO incentives, hinting at the need for more transparency in compensation practices【source】(https://rfr.bz/l9ykh9n).

You can find 501(c)3 hospitals, universities, and churches but each takes very different skills to thrive. How You Can Help: For Concerned Community Members and Potential Funders We all play a crucial role in supporting our healthcare system and advocating for those who face access and care challenges. Here are some ways that concerned community members and potential funders can make a difference. ✅ Understand the Challenges: Educate yourself about the challenges facing your local healthcare system, especially those related to healthcare workforce shortages and access to care. ✅ Donate: Monetary donations to hospitals, health systems, and non-profit organizations can provide financial resources needed to support healthcare initiatives. Your donation could help fund patient education, workforce development programs, and other essential services. ✅ Volunteer: Healthcare and community organizations need volunteers to support their work. This could involve anything from administrative tasks to mentoring aspiring healthcare professionals. Reach out to local organizations to see how you can get involved. ✅ Advocate: Speak up about the challenges facing the healthcare sector in your community. Write to local and state representatives advocating for increased funding and policies that address healthcare shortages and improve equitable access to care. ✅ Partner: If you're part of a business or organization, consider forming partnerships with healthcare organizations. These collaborations can enhance resources, broaden outreach, and amplify the impact on community health. ✅ Promote Education: Sponsor or participate in health education initiatives to help community members understand the importance of preventative care and how to manage their health more effectively. Your support can make a significant difference in the lives of those who are affected by the current challenges in the healthcare sector. With collective action, we can help ensure that all individuals have access to the quality care they need and deserve.
