Did you know that for £6 you can provide books for one child for a year? and for £2.50 you can provide pens and pencils for one child for a year. However, children in most rural areas of Uganda lack scholastic materials and miss school, miss writing notes and exercises and can’t do revision because they do not have notes. As new school term opens, we are looking for support as many children as can in their education journey. If you could spare anything, please support our Gofundme campaign so that we can provide children in the rural areas of Uganda with scholastic materials. https://lnkd.in/dRJzCy4g No contribution is too small, and your sharing of the campaign is equally cherished. Let's come together to make a difference in the lives of these deserving children. With your support, we can empower orphaned and vulnerable children to succeed and thrive through education. From Compassion to Competition in Schools! In today's educational landscape, the atmosphere for children at school has shifted dramatically. The drive for competitiveness and the relentless need to win have surged to unprecedented levels, overshadowing the simplicity of raising modest amounts like R1000 for a cause. As a parent, observing my daughter navigate the challenges of growing up in a hyper-connected world, where societal norms emphasize being the best at any cost, is disconcerting. Recently, my daughter chose to participate in her school's debutant charity drive, driven by her genuine compassion for her community and those less fortunate. However, the revelation that the person deemed the "winner" amassed an astounding R120,000 makes me ponder the true lesson being imparted. Is the objective to instill a genuine heart for those in need, to nurture resourcefulness, or merely to encourage a cutthroat approach of hustling and relentlessly vying for the top spot? While setting targets and goals in life is essential, the extremity of this fundraising competition raises concerns. It's vital to strike a balance, ensuring our children learn the value of empathy, resourcefulness, and community service without being swept into a ruthless culture of unyielding competition. As parents, we must actively engage and guide our children to understand the true essence of success and the importance of compassion and humility in our interconnected world. #debutantemother

Here's the best advice I can give to fundraisers working in independent schools: Spend time in the teachers' lounge. 👩🏫 More than anyone else at your school, your teachers have a wealth of information on students, parents, grandparents, and everyone in the school community. I just had a conversation with a teacher who (without meaning to) gave me an innovative idea for a fundraising campaign to implement next academic year. 💡 This time spent with people from other areas of your school is essential for generating creative ideas! #teachers #education #independentschools #fundraising

Shoutout to Bricesen Ross founder of Project Ambition, for making the case for optimism! ——————————————————————————————— #makingthecaseforoptimism Project Ambition is more than just another nonprofit, but instead a vehicle created to help marginalized communities identify and overcome systemic obstacles. While we value our work related to mentorship & resource provision, we have to be more intrepid in addressing this matter if we intend to put an end to the viscous economic and educational cycles that have plagued marginalized populations for decades. For that reason, our long term goal is to one day have the ability to provide scholarships covering the FULL cost of tuition for as many students as possible from marginalized communities. Above all else, our intent is to provide solutions that will lead to a more equitable society —and I’m optimistic that our work here at Project Ambition will provide an opportunity to do just that! If you believe in this mission, please consider signing up to become a mentor or providing a donation of any amount! • • • #makingthecaseforoptimism #HGF23 @hopeglobalforum @operationhopehq #johnhopebryant #hopeglobalforum #explore #explorepage #nonprofit #optimism

Each of the faces in this picture represent why afterschool programs are important. These #O6Afterschool students from Main Street Elementary School in Florence County School District Three attended an educational field trip in Columbia this week. Main Street is 1 of 12 #O6Afterschool programs operating in SC public schools. Why is the #O6Afterschool program important? ➡️ When kids want to attend #O6Afterschool they attend school during the regular day boosting daily attendance numbers. ➡️ When kids attend #O6Afterschool they spend time in a positive nurturing environment verses some returning home to an empty house while parents finish their work days. ➡️ When kids attend #O6Afterschool they get help with their homework in a small classroom setting. ➡️ There is never a charge to attend. All services are offered free. Our programs are growing significantly. We depend on your support to offer students in rural and underserved communities the opportunity to learn and grow and develop their passions. Please consider donating to the Original Six Foundation as you consider your end-of-year giving. Tell your friends. Share our story. Thank you! https://lnkd.in/gGZ4EFdP #AfterschoolPrograms #Afterschool #everychildmatters #ruraleducation #FlorenceSC #OriginalSixFoundation
