Geriatrics led me to management, palliatives to the team, patients to compassion. Bioethics, research, teaching, leadership, mindfulness, coordination. "The doctor who only knows medicine, doesn't even know medicine."
Home death was not the preferred place for a large number of patients when this option was presented within a clinical context scenario. The PPoD and actual place-of-death were depending on the clinical situation. During the curse of illness, 6.3% of patients change their PPoD in at least one of end-of-life scenario. https://lnkd.in/dR6ygF9E

Day 2 of EPHMRA conference, and really moved by a personal, emotional, and engaging presentation by anthony rowbottom from about his personal cancer journey as a young father of two. Some takeaways: - Think about your underserved populations. As I've been saying, AI can probably save you time by telling you a lot about the "normal" patients. Use the time saved to learn more about the less likely cases. - Talk to primary caregivers and nurses. There is always SO much more to a patient journey than medical treatment. - The journey is always emotional. If you aren't looking at that angle, you are missing 90% of the pitcture. #ephmra #insights #pharma

Are you curious about Palliative Care? Watch (or listen to) Hodgkin's International's latest presentation and learn about how palliative care is used to improve the quality of life of cancer survivors and their families.
✨ New Presentation: Understanding Palliative Care✨ Our latest YouTube presentation offers crucial insights into palliative care for anyone facing chronic, degenerative medical conditions. Featuring Dr. Laura Petrillo of Mass General Hospital and moderated by Dr. Tess Nowell, UK-based GP and palliative care specialist and co-chair of Hodgkin’s International, this session addresses key aspects of symptom management during and after cancer treatment and the psychosocial issues impacting health. It includes an informative Q&A session with 5 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma survivors, as they discuss using palliative care for managing symptoms and addressing psychosocial issues relevant to long-term survivors of Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Palliative care is not “end-of-life” care. Palliative care focuses on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness, with the goal of improving the quality of life for both the patient and the family. It's a multidisciplinary approach that supports patients at any stage of illness with their diagnosis. Whether you're seeking comfort, guidance, or insight into managing complex health needs, this presentation—listenable as a podcast—is an invaluable resource. Like, share, and engage with us as we expand the conversation on patient care and well-being. 👉 Dive in here: https://lnkd.in/erUWnq2e #PalliativeCare #ChronicIllness #SymptomManagement #HealthcareEducation #MedicalCommunity #MassGeneralHospital #HodgkinsInternational
