Hurricane Beryl made landfall in Texas early this morning, bringing heavy winds as well as the danger of life-threatening storm surge inundation and flash flooding. ALAN stands ready to help response efforts with donated logistics services and equipment. And we are mobilizing accordingly. If you live in or near an affected area, follow advice from your local officials. And remember to never walk or drive into flooded areas. #logistics #supplychain #disasterrelief #humanitarianlogistics #disasterready #disasterpreparedness #hurricaneseason #hurricaneberyl

Downed power lines, collapsed infrastructure, damaged schools, community centres and churches – this is the aftermath of #HurricaneBeryl across several countries in the south-eastern Caribbean. Red Cross teams are on the ground, responding and supporting those who are most in need. At the Grenada Red Cross Society, Dominica Red Cross Society and St. Lucia Red Cross, volunteers are distributing emergency supplies including hygiene kits, tarpaulins, blankets and mosquito nets, as well as meals. St. Vincent and The Grenadines Red Cross volunteers are supporting assessments, providing first aid and delivering relief supplies. In Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago, Red-Cross supported shelters have been able to close, and people have returned home. In anticipation of hurricane season and the potential impact, the Jamaica Red Cross pre-positioned emergency supplies and is keeping people updated with vital information on how to stay safe now that Beryl has passed. The strength of the Red Cross is our combination of community-based and global support. The Canadian Red Cross has a history of collaborating with Red Cross National Societies in the region. With the support of the Government of Canada (Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada), we are providing funds and personnel to support the global response. People in Canada wishing to help are encouraged to donate to the Canadian Red Cross Hurricane Beryl Appeal at http://redcross.ca or by calling 1-800-418-1111. 📸: 1-2 (Grenada Red Cross Society) 3-4 (Jamaica Red Cross) 5 (St Vincent and the Grenadines Red Cross)

#Carriacou in the Caribbean was flattened by Hurricane Beryl on Monday. Most of the houses are plywood and tin. They've been blown apart. There are c.15,000 people on Carriacou and the other small islands around there. They have no water, shelter or food. The sea surface temperature is c.2oC over normal; Beryl is the earliest hurricane in recent records. There are two excellent videos by Jonathan Petramala here: https://lnkd.in/e89eu9Zx https://lnkd.in/eH6qmTgW If you want to support there are dozens of GoFundMe campaigns - I've found this one by Island Windjammers (who ship cargo around the Windward Islands under sail) where they are offering to use the funds to buy supplies which they will then ship for free - credit to Island Windjammers, Inc. https://lnkd.in/eYgukNsB #hurricaneberyl #support #rebuild #caribbean #extremeweather #climate #climatechange #hurricane #charity
