Circle Time is exciting ❣️ Do you know what circle time means? Ohhh it's one of our best moments in the early years session. Circle Time is also called group time, it refers to any time a group of people especially preschoolers, sit together in a circle for an activity involving everyone. I noticed children get easily bored when you do things weekly in the same way especially when is every day, they want that same thing you do spiced up and delivered in a different way but with the same content or with a richer content. We had to spice up our circle time and made it a class morning tour 💃💃💃💃🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ we have different learning corners we go daily to learn and we have fun doing that 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘 Our circle time routine consist of the following; _ Daily affirmation _ 5 magic words _ class rules song _ Rhymes _ letter rhymes _ number rhymes _ identify shapes and colours _ story telling _ days of the week _ How is the weather _ letter of the week _ number of the week and lots more. Our kids are our best coaches! This weekend my wonderful daughter turned 9! (time flies...) I can’t imagine being happy and fulfilled without her in my life ❤️ Also, I think I am so much wiser thanks to parenthood 🤓 👩🎓 💚 Have you noticed how much you can learn from your kids? It's funny how little acts of thoughtfulness, kindness, and understanding can really pack a powerful punch. My 11yo's new teacher created a visual timetable for her and sent it to me, so we can print it out at home and orient her for her school day. There will also be a copy at school. It is perfect. It tells my child what is happening, what she is expected to do (and in what order) and is in clear and simple language. I have come over all emotional like. One week into a brand-new school and already the teaching staff have already grasped that understanding the school week - and what is required of her - is something that she finds difficult. And they created a solution. I am not having to explain it or do the training or undertake the work myself or manage anyone elses feelings but my own. Will it solve everything? Probably not. Will it help? Absolutely! Will my 11yo always need it? I really couldn't say. Educator friends- as we embark on a new school year, knowing that you are going to have “that kid” in your class can generate worry. What if we’re not a good fit for each other? What if I can’t manage the behaviors? What if I can’t teach because of the behaviors? Friends- “that kid” is my favorite kid. That kid may have more happening in their life and mind than we can even imagine. That kid might feel out of balance. That kid might have had a wonderful summer but is coming back to school after years of being misunderstood by peers or adults or both. That kid might be just as worried about coming back to school, wondering if they’ll be a good fit with their teachers and peers and if their days will be smooth or kick them into fight/flight/freeze (in any way that they know it). Give “that kid a chance.” Be mindful of what you know, but give them a fresh start. Greet them eagerly and geniuinely. Work first on getting to know them- find that connection point. Find what makes them proud and tap into it. If we focus on relationships and abilities, we can build resilience and engagement from there.
