American Share Insurance’s Post

In our free market economy, both B2B and B2C markets benefit from competition in design, price, and service. Regulatory limitations on product choice contradict the democratic, cooperative, and collaborative business principles of credit unions. Unfortunately, the current #MichiganCreditUnionAct restricts state-chartered credit unions by mandating only one deposit insurance option, the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF). Compare this to the neighboring states of Ohio and Indiana, which has allowed the option of private deposit insurance for decades. 📢 We're in Traverse City this week for #MCUL's Annual Convention & Expo. Stop by Booth #87 to chat with Mike Baswell & David Kettlehake about our #MichiganParityInitiative (#MPI), which focuses on helping to bring private insurance to Michigan. Also, don't miss out on your chance to win a free #YetiCooler! Thank you to our #MPI Leadership Council Members for your support: Vic Pantea, Jennifer Borowy, MBA (Michigan First Credit Union), Steve Cobb (BlueOx Credit Union), Kris Lewis (Ignite CU), Scott McFarland (Honor Credit Union), Donald Mills (Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union), Carma Peters (Michigan Legacy Credit Union), Vickie Schmitzer (Frankenmuth Credit Union). Illinois is another state very near Michigan that allows credit unions the choice of using ASI's Private Insurance option. ASI can provide excellent references from credit unions where we provide deposit insurance for state-chartered credit unions.
