We recently published a rapid guideline update that offered recommendations on combining endocrine treatment (ET) with selected targeted agents as second- and third-line therapies on the basis of alterations identified by biomarker testing in patients with hormone receptor–positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)–negative advanced breast cancer. The impetus for the rapid update was the publication of data from the phase III randomized controlled trial, CAPItello-291,2 that evaluated fulvestrant with the AKT pathway inhibitor capivasertib or placebo + fulvestrant in this patient population. We now have a new companion Guideline Clinical Insights article that addresses some of the questions clinicians may face as they implement the recommendations into clinical practice. https://brnw.ch/21wMbrf

People with cancer need your help. They need ASCO members to share their stories to help #ASCOAdvocacy communicate with lawmakers on the importance of federal cancer research funding. Federally funded cancer research saves lives and leads to improved outcomes for patients. As drivers of innovation, the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute have been behind nearly every significant advancement in cancer prevention, detection, and treatment over the last 50 years. Thanks to this work, there are a record 18 million cancer survivors in the United States today. Reducing funding now will result in fewer lives saved from cancer for decades to come. Providers, researchers, and all those involved in cancer care have powerful stories to tell. These stories are crucial for lawmakers to hear when deciding which issues to prioritize this fall.
