Another strong step forward in our in China for China strategy! ☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼 The Volkswagen China Technology Company (VCTC) in Hefei – also formerly known as 100% TECO - will develop a new tailor-made e-platform to cater the entry-level segment of the local market. The new 'China Main Platform' (CMP) will be the first full electric platform, we develop exclusively for china! 🚙🔋🇨🇳 And: It will reach market maturity in less than 36 months, around ONE THIRD faster than the usual development within Volkswagen Group. We achieve this through new lean processes and new technologies in the development process. As well as the very early involvement of suppliers in our new development hub for 'Intelligent Connected Vehicles' in Hefei. The 'CMP' also incorporate China-specific solutions for the battery, electric drive, and electric motor, ensuring cost efficiency and rapid market readiness. In a first step, we are planning to create four vehicles in the price range of 140,000 - 180,000 RMB on this platform. This is a further step towards accelerating the Volkswagen Groups electric campaign in China with additional models for new customer segments. By 2030, the range of our ICV products in China is expected to expand to at least 30 models. By this we will serve an even broader base of premium and volume customers with a comprehensive product matrix. APTIV connector system Wuhan factory project officially launched APTIV, a Fortune 500 company and a globally renowned automotive parts supplier, has established its third subsidiary in the Wuhan Economic Development Zone - the APTIV connector system Wuhan factory with a total investment of 2 billion yuan has officially launched. APTIV Connector System Wuhan Factory is APTIV's 21st production base in China. The total construction area of this project is about 30000 square meters. It will build an intelligent manufacturing factory and is expected to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2025. It will produce new energy vehicle charging products (high-voltage charging bases), high-voltage connectors for new energy vehicles, and other related products. In addition to meeting the needs of domestic manufacturers, it will also be exported overseas. This is a historic moment for MITI, and for Malaysia as we strategically, systematically and strongly position ourselves to attract RM500b of investments into this sector, along with other enhancing enabling factors such as talent and SME capacity in the industry’s ecosystem. The global semiconductor industry is forecast to grow into a USD1 trillion industry by this decade’s end. Fast-growing demand for a diverse range of disruptive technologies and emerging applications – from AI, autonomous and electric vehicles, and high-performance computing to 6G and autonomous machines – will fuel this historic expansion. To support anticipated industry growth, 109 new fabs are expected to come online between 2022 and 2026, according to the SEMI World Fab Forecast. Fully 89 of these fabs have already either begun operation, equipping or construction. More fabs will be needed through the end of the decade to support burgeoning demand for chips. Great Move by the Malaysian Government with the National Semiconductor Strategy! Did you know that Penang is often called the "Silicon Valley of the East" or the "ASEAN Silicon Valley"? It's a key player in the global electronics and semiconductor industries. This nickname is well-deserved due to Penang's major role in these sectors. I recently came across an old article from The Edge (https://lnkd.in/guRz6v_4 ) that I still have pinned up in my study room. It got me thinking about how now is the perfect time for us to climb higher in the value chain and create more job opportunities. One area I'm particularly excited about is packaging and testing. With chip design hitting physical limits in how small we can make them, the next big thing is packaging. Packaging technology is crucial because it involves combining and packaging chips in innovative ways to make them faster and more efficient. This is where Malaysia can shine, with companies like Unisem and Inari leading the way. Here are some of the Gov plan. National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS): 1. Investment Goals: Malaysia aims to attract RM500 billion (approximately $107 billion) in semiconductor investments. 2. Fiscal Support: The government has pledged RM25 billion ($5.3 billion) in fiscal support, including incentives for foreign investors and training programs for 60,000 engineers. 3. XPeng X9 utilizes a 12,000T integrated die-casting machine produced by Guangzhou Hongtu. Currently, Xpeng's Huangpu factory in Guangzhou is equipped with two die-casting machines: one with a capacity of 7000 tons for the front section of the X9, and another with 12000 tons for a substantial part around the rear floor, producing a component every 100 seconds. Moreover, Xpeng is in the midst of setting up a colossal 16000-ton die-casting machine at the same facility. This expansion will enable the production of large-scale parts, such as battery packs, in the future. He Xiaopeng shows a deep interest in this area. These machines represent a significant investment, being among the few of their size globally. Through its collaboration with Hongtu, Xpeng has been able to bring this cutting-edge technology to its manufacturing base. This strategy offers a crucial benefit: it allows for immediate resolution of any production bottlenecks right at the factory.
