Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the 'Smart Manufacturing Showcase' presented at MxD, a collaborative event by IMEC Illinois and CESMII. It was an insightful gathering, bringing together industry leaders and innovators in the manufacturing space. 🤝 Connecting with Innovators The event was a great platform to network with organizations like ThinkIQ and BennitAI. We discussed the transformative impact of hardware and software solutions in helping small and medium-sized industrial firms embrace smart manufacturing technologies. It's inspiring to see the innovation happening in this space! 📊 A Statistic that Stands Out One statistic that caught my attention was particularly striking: Of the 239,607 manufacturing firms in the US, nearly 75% have fewer than 20 employees. This figure highlights the significant role small businesses play in our manufacturing landscape. 🚀 Addressing the Skills Gap and Labor Challenges With the current labor challenges and a skills gap that's projected to result in almost 2 million unfilled manufacturing jobs by 2030, it's clear that we need to rethink how smart manufacturing technologies are applied. This gap presents both a challenge and an opportunity for innovation and growth in the sector. 💡 Looking Ahead The conference was a reminder of the endless possibilities that lie ahead in smart manufacturing.
