🚀Orchestration: The future of supply chain🚀 ✨Digitalization is already delivering significant advances in productivity, speed and visibility to supply chain operations. Orchestration promises to build on and amplify those benefits. Supply chain digitalization has advanced rapidly in the last four years. Within DHL Supply Chain, more than 7,200 digitalization projects have been completed. These projects touch virtually every aspect of the supply chain and cover a broad range of technologies, including robotics, sortation and packing technologies, intelligent process automation, and artificial intelligence. As digitalization continues to advance, it is creating opportunities not only to improve specific processes but to optimize material flow—and the resources that support it—across the entire supply chain. That’s where orchestration comes in. 🔹THE VALUE OF ORCHESTRATION Today’s supply chains are subject to a high degree of variability on any given day. Trucks arriving late, employees calling in sick, order volumes exceeding projections, and equipment failures are just some of the issues that can impact daily operational plans. Warehouse and transportation managers regularly adapt to these disruptions as best they can to minimize their impact on customers, but the consequence is often inefficient resource utilization. 🔹ADVANCING ORCHESTRATION IN THE WAREHOUSE With so many supply chain resources centralized within its walls, the warehouse represents fertile ground for the seeds of orchestration to be planted and nurtured. For example, many DHL Supply Chain operations already utilize multiple robotic and automation solutions—and the number of these operations is growing. So, the challenge today isn’t just implementing and optimizing automation to address specific use cases but orchestrating the operation of multiple automation systems and the people that support them to unlock new levels of speed, efficiency, and productivity. That’s being accomplished by integrating automation technologies at the system level in ways that enable continuous and harmonized data flow and visibility, building what is, in effect, a central nervous system for the warehouse. 🔹ORCHESTRATION ACROSS THE SUPPLY CHAIN Applying this same philosophy to processes outside the warehouse delivers similar benefits. Within transportation there is often a significant opportunity to reduce costs by minimizing the miles trucks travel empty after making deliveries. 🔹YOUR ORCHESTRATION PARTNER The challenges associated with advancing orchestration will be similar to those of accelerating digitalization. Like digitalization, effective orchestration requires both deep supply chain experience and technology expertise along with proven processes for managing technology and people. ....Warehouse Automation Is Accelerating....The rules about warehouse automation are being re-written as you read these lines: A combination of new robots and generative AI is revolutionising warehouse picking. Soon people wont have to do the tedious job of putting items into boxes and warehouses will be able to operate efficiently around the clock without human interferense. This was the key take-away at the Network-Logistics TRUST meeting faciliteted by Paul Kleiby. It was a virtual hands-on automation seminar with splindid presentations by Jesper Brandin from Nowaste Logistics, Mikael Holmqvist from KNAPP, Benny Thögersen who is new CEO at Element Logic®; Predrag Djukanovic from Swisslog, Mats Jonsson from Cognibotics and Karim Nouira founder of Superintelligence Computing Systems. The event was hosted by Nowaste, who is offering warehousing for a host of different companies. At the moment the company in Helsingborg conducts an exciting pilot-project in collaboration with Cognibotics and Superintelligence Cmputing systems. They installing a pick-and-place robot that will be able to pick up to a stunning 2.000 items an hour. With technology like that who needs human pickers in the future?

Revolutionizing Logistics: Mobile Asset Optimization Unleashes Efficiency and Collaboration In today's fast-paced supply chain and logistics world, staying ahead of the curve is crucial for businesses striving for efficiency and profitability. Mobile Asset Optimization is emerging as a game-changer in this industry, revolutionizing the way enterprises manage their mobile assets. This innovative approach combines cutting-edge business process software, sensory technologies, and operational research techniques to optimize operations and unlock valuable business intelligence. Within the four walls of the warehouse, Mobile Asset Optimization is driving the rise of intralogistics smart robots. These robotic companions are becoming the darlings of the logistics industry, offering speed, precision, and scalability that human workers alone can't match. Their ability to work alongside humans and adapt to changing demands is redefining the warehouse landscape. Meanwhile, outside the warehouse, transportation visibility platforms are enhancing collaboration between shippers, carriers, and logistics providers. By providing real-time insights into carrier activity and capacity, these platforms enable more informed decision-making, leading to better resource allocation and overall efficiency. In a world where every minute counts, Mobile Asset Optimization is the compass guiding logistics companies toward a future of streamlined operations and increased competitiveness. #LogisticsInnovation #MobileAssetOptimization #SupplyChainEfficiency #SmartRobots #TransportationVisibility

$150M+ Warehouse Automation Investment Falls Short A consumer goods giant invested $150M+ in a fully automated warehouse, only to find operational mismatches post-launch. (report below) As supply chains evolve, companies are turning to automation to boost resilience and efficiency, but many projects don’t meet client expectations. My thoughts on why: - lack of vision -lack of tech understanding - organizational alignment To navigate this challenge, companies need robust strategies. From point solutions to fully automated networks, the choices are vast. But with great ambition comes greater complexity. Why do projects like these fall short of expectations? I’d love to hear your thoughts. #SupplyChain #Automation #Innovation #Robotics #Warehouse
