The confused state of Jeans-wear in India. Trade show season is almost over in India, and there are a lot of questions still looming. especially what to do with jeans-wear. Whether to go rigid or stretch, or what to sell if the knit-looking denims are not working, All of a sudden, high-stretch, knit-look Dobbies, skinny, and slim fits are not selling. For womenswear, comfort and loose fits have been trending for some time, but Indian men got comfortable in what they wear currently .They are reluctant to get rid of stretch and a slim fit. We see only young consumers (boys) experimenting with these new global looks. While International Heritage Brands enjoys a leadership position as they stick to their brand USP. And most Indian brands don’t understand the true meaning of jeanswear, they keep pivoting as market-taking shape. Now they are finding themselves in a fix. Its taking time to realise that, the solution lies in talking to consumers and doing a deep dive into future trends. Not only in fashion or runways but also in the global economic scene and youth mindset. We need to invest our time and energy in these studies. Looks are the key to Jeanswear and should be balanced with product functionality. Some brands have started to work with trends like premium workwear and light loungewear denims, but yet to see how the trending themes like green denims and Nocturnal shape up. #SS25 #TRADESHOWS

Returning to MIT Institute of Design for 4th workshop on application of #trendforecatimg for fashion design. The only difference was it was a mix of B.des. 3rd Sem and M.des. 1st Sem students . Also it was only 4 days to take them through the process incudong Brand USP , Trend forecasting and finallly moodboards / concept boards , fabric boards and key-looks. Not much was expected as the batch was not exposed to fashion world at all. And of course using trend forecasting is not easy at all It started with a lot of questions and doubts but they nailed it at last. It was an amazing experience all thanks to Arshiya Kapoor . #trendforeasting
