📌 Reflecting on a Productive Week in the UK! 🇬🇧 What an incredible week it has been! I had the privilege of meeting with some of the industry's leading insurance carriers. Here are a few highlights: 1️⃣ Collaborative Discussions: The face-to-face dialogues allowed us to delve deep into emerging industry trends, shared challenges, and potential collaborations that can reshape our partnerships. 2️⃣ Innovative Ideas: I'm always inspired by the innovative spirit of anti-fraud teams. How can we best harness online data to make informed decisions? We will find out soon! There's so much to look forward to in the upcoming months! 3️⃣ Forging New Relationships: Beyond the formal meetings, the spontaneous coffees and dinners provided a platform to strengthen our network, share stories, and build long-lasting business relationships. 4️⃣ A Glimpse of the Future: Through our discussions, it became clear that data AND people, coupled with digital transformation, will pave the way for a brighter, more resilient insurance future. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to meet. Here's to the partnerships we've fortified and the new ones we've forged! 💼🤝 Looking forward to being back in the UK next month! Nobody is coming to save you! Nobody! -Mel Robbins If you think you have job security at your company, know that when you die, a posting for your job, will be up within 2-3 business days. I worked as a Flight Attendant for 14 years and I had a damn good record, but the minute I questioned my safety onboard the aircraft, I was fired and called frivolous, insubordinate and disrepectful (with no documentation to back up the claim). And the Union doesn't do shit about it. The reason for not pursuing the grievance against the airline, was a made-up story, that had never been discussed, at any point during the grievance process. The point of this story, is that no company cares THAT much about you. You are extremely replaceable in their eyes. You know who doesnt see you as replacable? Your kids! And your kids, dont care if you have a title, they don’t care about some ladder to climb and they definitely do t care how much money you make. Your kids, just want you around. They want you to get down on the floor and play Legos with them. They want to ride their boke with you and show you how good they are. Money can be made elsewhere but your wont be around, for as long as you think. Every day, I improve myself. My wife invested in Us. My kids believe in Us. We started building an online business. Are we going to be rich with this? Probably not! Are we making enough money to keep going? Absolutely! Are we going to be happy, if we travel more, spend as much time together as a family and we make money while we sleep? Fuck ya we will!!! What are you building on the side? The end of the first ‘week’ back. How’s it been for you? Travel plans have certainly been impacted by the weather here in the UK. But thankfully we’ve all learnt that not being able to travel doesn’t stop us doing stuff, a huge benefit from those times of #lockdown over three years ago now. From here in North Somerset 2024 is already gearing up to be interesting with conversations this week about how organisations can support their employees with the ups and downs that life brings. And how doing so will help those organisations to deliver more effectively for their customers, reduce their operating costs and be #safer places to work. Quite compelling when you have a peek at the data we already have for those brave executive teams who have adopted the approach of checking to see how their people are doing. If I have one wish for 2024, it’s that businesses really do live up to the statement that their ‘employees are their greatest asset’. Somewhere in Europe... Who loves to travel?? I certainly do! True story ~ My luggage has always arrived with the plane, except during a long flight to Denmark. With a fast turnover in Amsterdam, my carefully packed and overloaded "checked" bag didn't quite make the transfer. Over tired from lack of sleep, I'm at the baggage claim waiting for a suitcase that isn't coming. Everyone else has left the terminal, and as I meander over to the service desk and attempt to understand how I will recover my belongings, I begin to clearly see my error. Needless to say...I'm in uncharted territories. Foreign country. No toothbrush. No change of clothes. 12 hours into overnight travel. No real sleep. If you're a small business entrepreneur, executive, business leader...imagine you're at the crossroads of an employment issue, you didn't pack a carryon bag with a change of clothes because you've never had a reason to before. But guess what, today you have a reason. Someone is claiming harassment or they're asking what is the attendance or dress code policy? I always thought I was a seasoned traveler, but I quickly understood I had made a rookie error in Denmark!
