Guess who's back, back again ... It's TruSummit Solutions' Senior Salesforce Developer Mike Chandler with the third in his four-part demo series on #SalesforceMaps. In this video, Mike demos two strategies for implementing distance and drive time lookups between locations, beginning with the simplest implementation: a real-time, API lookup. Then, Mike moves on to demo a more complicated implementation in which data is saved to a junction object to avoid making repeat requests to the Salesforce Maps API. PLUS! Mike goes under the hood to demo a new, soon-to-be-released open source tool called TSS Maps (stay tuned for more on that!). News flash ... I am not a #Salesforce developer. Nor any kind of technology developer, period. But I am a fan of cool tech, and the stuff Mike Chandler is rolling out at TruSummit Solutions is majorly cool. First of all, I've been a Salesforce user forever and had no idea that #SalesforceMaps was a thing. And of course it makes a ton of sense for #fieldservice, #retail, and many other use cases ... it's just that prior to TruSummit Solutions, I never really thought about #Salesforce beyond the 'traditional CRM.' Secondly, Mike is creating real-life, usable content that any ACTUAL #SalesforceDeveloper (not me!) could watch, replicate in their own org, and end up with beautiful, functioning code that will get them well on the road to using Maps (pun fully intended). Description : Using the Test.loadData method, you can populate data in your test methods without having to write many lines of code. Follow these steps: 1. Add the data in a .csv file. 2. Create a static resource for this file. 3. Call Test.loadData within your test method and pass it the sObject type token and the static resource name. List<sObject> ls = Test.loadData(Account.sObjectType, 'AccountData'); The Test.loadData method returns a list of sObjects that correspond to each record inserted. Note : You have to create a static resource with Private access. Performance impact: Enabling Debug logs in production environments can degrade performance, creating a trade-off between observability and system efficiency.
