Invest in Our Planet. The wealth of the nation is its air, water, soil, forests, minerals, rivers, lakes, oceans, scenic beauty, wildlife habitats and biodiversity… that’s all there is. That’s the whole economy. That’s where all the economic activity and jobs come from. These biological systems are the sustaining wealth of the world. The Mother Earth is our Goddess. As we give respect, care, love and Honor to our own Mother, Let us resolve to give the care, respect, love and Honor to the Mother Earth and preserve. Unlike previous economic revolutions, this time there are two additional imperatives: saving humanity from the climate crisis and building green economies in every country so that everyone benefits from this green revolution. This can only be done if we invest in our planet’s future together. Governments, businesses, and citizens are essential in harnessing the revolutionary progress needed to save humanity from the climate crisis. Overcoming climate change is within reach if we work together to commit to action and invest in our planet and our collective future. * Businesses, inventors, investors, and financial markets must drive value for their institutions and society through green innovation and practices. Like other economic revolutions, the private sector has the power to drive the most significant change, with both the necessary scale and speed. * Governments must incentivize their citizens, businesses, and institutions to create and innovate, advancing the public’s interests and creating the framework for an equitable and sustainable global economic system. Ambitious action on green energy generates increased energy security at a time where that has never been more important, while also simultaneously creating the positive environmental outcomes needed to tackle the climate crisis. * Individual citizens must push for sustainable solutions across the board as voters and consumers. Climate change mitigation, restoration, and adaption require the collective will and voice of the people to make the change the planet needs. Time to Reach // Over four days of Planet Assemblies I hosted at Hay Festival, groups of strangers shared ideas, connections and action around circular economy, food, transport and health. In just a couple of hours, the quality of insights and action was reaffirming and grew hope for what's possible when we release communities' ability to reach out and collaborate to co-design the better futures we desperately need. I chatted with Prof Sir David King in the Green Room, asking him about the highest priority for inspiring young people to take action in this space. His sure answer was connection to nature. The exciting development of BiRD Lab - the Biomimicry & Regenerative Design Lab at Green School Bali with Benjamin Freud, Ph.D. Charlotte Hankin Denise DeLuca Frank Burridge and Dr Kevin House, FCCT, FRSA is driving the creation of new design approaches that help learners of all ages ask better questions of each other, non-human and unborn generations about the ambition we need to set for our reach, and find ways of learning from nature to shape the actions and relationships that can drive transformation. We must reach out more confidently, and with more stamina than ever before, and connect our voices, spirit and energy to drive change at the startling and radical scale that's needed. #climate #biodiversity #regeneration #legacy

Proud to be a part of the team behind this latest report from Forum for the Future, in partnership with Mars and IDH. Arguments for eliminating social inequalities tend to appeal to moral sentiments. While we see these arguments as entirely valid, they overlook the fact that reducing inequality is both a moral and pragmatic necessity, if we are to effectively address the environmental challenges we face. It is our view that the fundamental purpose of business should be to help solve these challenges, and that businesses have an essential and positive role to play. However, in order to play that role, businesses need a clear rationale of the commercial benefits to enable their contribution. The report sets out the business case for taking an integrated approach to business, social and environmental agendas, outlining the ways in which this can unlock commercial benefits when compared to treating these agendas as isolated issues.
