I remember the very first question asked when I mentioned my plans to pursue an executive MBA to expedite my professional and personal growth journey. While I struggled to make a lot of people understand the value it would bring, I was fortunate to have mentors and guides, who were aligned and could espouse my plan of action. Thrilled to share that I would be starting my executive education, this August, at the University of Chicago-Booth School of Business! I am nervous and equally excited to embark on this steep learning adventure and bring the learnings of a global classroom to my workplace in parallel. More than anything, becoming a Boothie is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me to invigorate the process – the process to evolve as an individual, a leader, catapult my learning curve, and enhance my skills with some of the best minds in the world- not-a-culmination stage of my learning but a cornerstone in my journey of imbibing, evolving, and complimenting all that I have amassed so far. A big shout to all my leaders at Nielsen and IDC, who helped me understand the impact a leader can have on posterity, and in the process inspired me to become bolder and better! A special mention to Sri Srinivasan GAICD who has been both my bulwark and mentor and whose continuous encouragement pushes me to excel at all fronts. I am headed back to Harvard Business School in a few weeks... And I just realized that I never shared that I extended my Executive Fellowship into the 2024 academic year! Last year, when I landed the opportunity, I shared that it was truly a pinch-me moment. The program was created so HBS MBAs could return and contribute to the school. So why share this? Because I didn't go to Harvard Business School, and I don't have an MBA! For those who don't know my story, I made Partner at a Big Four without an MBA or ever having taken a Finance course. I was the only non-MBA in my 600-person start class when I joined. Let this be a reminder that experience, qualifications, and criteria are important but not the ONLY thing. ⭐️ Don't let your background or your story limit what you think is possible for yourself. ⭐️ Dream big, and don't edit yourself out of opportunities. ⭐️ Focus on your strengths and superpowers, the impact you want to have in the world, and the story you have to tell. As a #PRStudent at Leeds Business School, I see that starting a new semester can be quite daunting, but with the right mindset, it presents an opportunity to shine academically and ultimately in one’s career’s path. Here are three key learnings for me thus far: 1. Opportunities to make you an outstanding student are abundant, but it's important to align your focus rightly. Your WHY should be at the forefront of any decision you make. 2. Help is readily available (from coursemates to course leaders), so don't be nonchalant. Speak up when you need it. 3. Be intentional about enjoying the process and building memorable experiences around the differences of a new culture. Beyond acing exams and having a distinction, these experiences can be just as valuable. 🎓🎉 Exciting News Alert! 🎉🎓 I'm thrilled to announce that I've successfully completed my MBA! After two years, sixteen classes, way too many papers, countless late nights/weekends, and endless cups of coffee, the hard work has officially paid off! First, a HUGE shoutout to the incredible leadership team at JM&A Group and JM Family Enterprises, Inc. for allowing me to participate in the NextGrad Program! Next, I want to thank my wife Tina for her support and motivation! Also, thanks for letting me out of a chore here and there to study. Finally, I need to thank the leaders that I have had during the journey who have encouraged and challenged me. My top takeaways: 1)     Pause and think first!
