Meet John Adebayo, a young man who defied societal norms by leaving his hometown after high school.
Driven by big dreams and an unwavering commitment to ethical success, he set out for Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria.
But he got more than he bargained for - Abuja was a sharp contrast to the familiar Oyo State, marked by a fast-paced life and higher living costs.
Undeterred by the challenges, John embarked on a journey into the tech world.
Lacking qualifications for high-paying jobs, he started as a cafe attendant, earning a meager ₦8,000.
Simultaneously, he self-taught himself programming and networking skills.
A year of relentless learning and relationship-building paved the way for a job at a law firm, where he earned his first five-figure salary in naira.
However, economic challenges led him to explore more, diving into network security.
Facing obstacles but refusing to quit, he ventured into software development, building skills in various programming languages.
Challenges were amplified when internet access became a luxury. Still, John persisted.
In 2013, a website development project marked a turning point.
He left the law firm and joined a microfinance bank as an IT officer for exposure and experience.
As a software developer, he overcame failures and built valuable connections at Global Sentinel.
Together with others, they launched Wesabi, securing funding and incubation. His journey continued as he joined Nigerco Industries and later founded Scnip, a world-class tech company.
John's inspiring journey is a testament to the power of determination, self-directed learning, and the pursuit of dreams, no matter where one starts in life.
