ICYMI: Earlier this week, Congressman Owens delivered a powerful speech in support of the Stronger Workforce for America Act - a bipartisan bill that takes a big step towards integrating workforce development and social safety net programs. As Owens eloquently stated, "We need to embrace innovation in our workforce development programs to move our nation forward." This legislation, which includes a "One Door to Work" model similar to the successful program in Utah, has the potential to help lift more workers out of poverty and into fulfilling careers. The Georgia Center for Opportunity, as part of the Alliance for Opportunity coalition, has been a leading advocate for these types of common-sense reforms.
