I am excited to announce that I have accepted a summer research internship position at the University of Maine’s Darling Marine Center in Walpole, Maine. I will be joining a team in the Brady lab, as a part of Maine’s Center for Sustainable Coastal Resources, to launch a pilot invasive Blue Crab survey of the Upper Damariscotta river. This survey will provide important information to assist in understanding the invasive blue crab population in a river that is so crucial to Maine’s aquaculture industry.
Well done Drew! Good luck this summer

5moLooks like a great opportunity especially after your Mystic training. Your project is one part of the research needed to effectively deal with climate change. The term “invasive” should not be interpreted in a negative way. The blue crabs will be here in increasing numbers and while they will have some negative impacts we should be looking for productive positive outcomes. How can Maine aquaculture benefit?
