With our sustained and consistent revenue growth and opportunity available to keep up the pace, the following 3 roles will be critical to my org as we enter our next fiscal: 📌 Director of Sales, West: This person will report directly into me and will be leading a team of Enterprise AEs in the West. This role is NOT for the hands-off manager who spends most of their time in reports and spreadsheets, nor is it for high velocity transactional leaders. I'm looking for someone who has not only managed sales teams before but who has also sold very technical solutions to large companies. I need someone who is dynamic, strategic, has high business & technical acumen, and can help coach reps through our process. 📌 Enterprise Account Executive: I'm looking for another solid technical Enterprise seller to join our ranks. We're a fully remote org so you can live anywhere in the Americas. You'll need SaaS experience, a bonus if you have worked with large retail brands. This is not your typical ENT AE role: I need someone with deep technical acumen, who has strong executive presence, and who is coachable. [edit: this role is responsible for acquiring net new customers] 📌 Mid-Market Account Executive: This is our most dynamic segment, where you'll be working to consult with prospective customers as they continue to grow their e-commerce footprint. We do not sell to the SMB market and this is not an entry-level sales role. [edit: this role is responsible for acquiring net new customers] Each of these roles is specifically focused around net new customer acquisition. We do have an Account Management org focused on strategic expansion and retention so keep an eye out this year as we continue to grow there, too. A true story about a recurring hiring conflict. Sales leader: I want to hire a great AE with startup experience. Also that sales leader: I don’t want job hoppers. Candidate: ''I was laid off in 2020 due to covid. Then I joined another startup working towards their series-A.  I was on a ramped quota of 400kARR for my first year and hit 110%.  About 18 months in, they failed to secure funding and I had to leave.   Looking for stability, I joined Salesforce as Enterprise AE. I self-generated about $1.8mioARR in pipeline in my first 12 months, but they went through a re-org and I was let go.'' This is a great candidate. Sales leader: ''she’s had 3 jobs in 4 years - I don’t want to speak with her'' The morale of the story: startups thrive and fail. Great candidates can hide behind poor CV’s. The only way to qualify a candidate (or a prospect, or any opportunity for that matter) is to have a chat. So should you just interview everyone? If I sent their CV - yes 😉
