Great to have worked with Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks again on their DFES assessments this year. After speaking with many local authority and business representatives at SSEN's roadshow events a couple of weeks ago, we're really pleased to get these DFES 2023 reports online. Today sees the launch of our annual Distribution Future Energy Scenarios (DFES), setting out our expectations for the adoption of low carbon technologies across our two licence areas up to 2050. The DFES reports, undertaken by sustainable energy experts Regen, use National Grid's Future Energy Scenarios as a framework to forecast four potential outcomes and the data they use for their baselines comes from 2023. Their wide-ranging analysis provides granular detail about the growth (or reduction) of energy generation, demand and storage technologies connecting to our electricity distribution networks in the north of Scotland and central southern England. The key findings of this year’s reports are that by 2030 our own networks must be ready for: · A significant increase in the number of registered electric vehicles, up from less than 170,000 today · Nearly 800,000 heat pumps in households, an increase of nearly 1,200% on today’s levels · Distribution network connected renewable generation (solar, wind, marine and hydropower) capacity to more than double in each licence area · Battery storage capacity that is forecast to increase by well over 1200% You can read more about these findings, along with much more in-depth analysis, here: https://lnkd.in/eUm9kEPk
