Amazon further cements its place as the juggernaut of e-commerce with yet another record-setting Prime Day this week.. Sales hit $14.2B across July 16th and 17th, up 11% YoY. More GMV than they did in the entire Q3 of 2012. A few interesting trends: Mobile shopping continues to increase share, up 18% YoY to 49.3%. Next year will be the first year mobile shopping becomes the majority of GMV on Prime Day which is a huge milestone. We see similar trends at Superfiliate with 80%+ of sessions being on mobile, and mobile CVR's rising in tow as people get more comfortable transacting on their phones. The increase of trust and removal of friction associated with seamless payment solutions like Apple Pay, ShopPay, and BuyWithPrime definitely help. AOV at $58 up from $56.60 last year and $53 two years ago which is substantial growth in a short amount of time. Electronics and furniture were the fastest-growing categories, which suggests that the basket size is probably a bimodal distribution of many low-ticket transactions and a bunch of big ones that net out in the high $50s. Tangentially related, this GMV by-quarter chart going back to 2007 is unbelievable. This is what charts are supposed to look like. Not to mention, in that time, Amazon has also built a $100B+/yr ARR Amazon Web Services (AWS) business.. Well played Mr. Bezzos (and Jassy)

I’ve come to expect this from Amazon. Great summary, thanks for compiling, Andy! I believe the increase in AOV is largely driven by inflation, which has had a significant impact on prices.

So crazy! I love how so many brands took advantage of Prime advertising and had their own "Prime Day" sales on their site to compete as well. Such good timing for so many of them being a few months out from BFCM and outside the July 4th sale madness too.

Those are outrageous numbers... personally prime day 1000% pushed me to buy on a bunch of household items that I was putting off for months
