Our venture builder and Alner director, Bintang Ekananda just published an academic paper on the #Reuse learnings! Hereby our favorite key highlight of the paper🥳 "The reusable packaging system, as applied by Alner, holds significant potential for reducing packaging waste generation and contributing to environmental preservation," said Bintang. Just like what Bintang said, reuse system is indeed has the potential to be socialize and implemented more in Indonesia. But, there are some challenge and barriers we need to overcome first to make it happen, such as the waste management infrastructure and the knowledge of society about the plastic waste problem itself. In this research, it is stated that support from the government, industry, and consumers, as well as additional research, is necessary, especially in the specific context of Indonesia. So, what should we do? How can reuse be one of the solutions to tackle this problem? What is the real impacts of reuse on the society? Let's learn about it together through the keypoints of the paper from this post above! 👇 See the full-article link here 👇 https://lnkd.in/gbWS58ab It's #ReuseRevolution by Alner and Enviu Indonesia 🌍 Bintang Ekananda | Dieuwertje Nelissen | Paul van der Linden | Eline Leising | Darina Maulana | Fajar Hidayat | Delanny Dwi | Aldino Dwi Anugerah | Rajna Habibah Angsoka | Lulu Khansa Komala | Adinda Sekar Setianing Gusti| Alner | Enviu

Buat Bumi, or ‘For the Earth’, aims to pilot an operating model to incentivise collection and create value from hard-to-recycle plastic waste for local shops and households, where hard-to-recycle plastic waste is collected and exchanged for groceries. The initiave works with local housewives in Tangerang and has collected 545 millions pieces of plastic sachets last year. Why working with housewives? We believe that housewives are smart, resourceful and likes to share good things with others. They are some of the first responders to drive change within a community. They clearly have a sharp radar that knows when something is good and will work, and when it won’t. So when we rolled out Buat Bumi programme, we had to make sure the model was sustainable, accessible and easily understood. They are also the ones to manage the waste in the household, and are seeking a positive activity to keep them engaged. Super shout-out and thanks to our amazing Tridi Oasis team Farhandra Ramdhani Irwan and Dewi Purwaningrum for their hard work to lead and run the project, also Alliance to End Plastic Waste team for the continuous support and assistance. Let's keep our sustainability mission alive for the earth! 🌿 #plasticpollution #recycling #sustainability #earth #womenempowerment
Residents in Tangerang, Indonesia are being encouraged to collect plastic sachets from food and household necessities in exchange for groceries. This is part of the Buat Bumi project, which means "for the earth", led by homegrown Indonesian recycling company Tridi Oasis. The project aims to bring new life to this plastic waste that had traditionally been deemed low value. Buat Bumi currently engages 66 mitras, influential grassroots members that leverage community spirit to drive waste collection and aggregation. We're excited to see participation grow as more residents start to reap the benefits of the programme and see how value is recovered from this plastic waste. In the midst of global challenges related to plastic pollution, KIBUMI conducted a kick-off meeting for the project entitled "Revolutionizing Sustainable Waste Supply Chain in Indonesia: A Comprehensive Framework for Digitalization, Modernization, and Community Empowerment". This project is part of Plastic Smart City by WWF WWF Indonesia, with the vision of stopping the leakage of plastic waste into nature by 2030. In this forum, Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan reminds us that collaboration of multiple parties such as this project is necessary to provide the solution implementing EPR in Indonesia. Apart from that, Danone Aqua also conveys their long-journey implementation practices of being responsible in managing their post-consumer recyclables. At the end, CEO of KIBUMI also points out the necessity to include informal sector through integrated digital technologies as they play pivotal role in recycling effort. By empowering the informal sector in plastic waste collection and introducing integrated digital platform technology, this project has great potential to change the paradigm in the recycling supply chain. With the Jakarta Metropolitan Area as its focus, this project is expected to be a major driver in increasing plastic recycling as well as reducing significant environmental impacts. For those interested in the progress of the project, please keep in touch through our social media platform. Cheers! #extendedproducerresponsibility #wastemanagement #sustainability

This Monday, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action hosted the inaugural session of the Indonesian-German Economic and Investment Committee in Berlin. The event, opened by German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Dr. Robert Habeck, and Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, focused on deepening economic exchanges between Germany and Indonesia, covering industry, trade & investment, energy, and human resource development. Consensus was reached on prioritizing digital and climate-friendly technologies, with business representatives from both countries sharing insights into their projects. Pei Albrecht represented ALBA Group Asia at this significant event. In 2022, ALBA Group Asia entered the Indonesian plastics recycling market through a joint venture with PT Tridi Oasis Group, with the first project located in #Tangerang. This marks a significant step forward for Indonesia towards its near-zero plastic pollution target by 2040. Since the launch of our #Kendal project in July 2023, progress has been steady. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the facility will process PET beverage bottles into high-quality rPET flakes and food-grade rPET pellets. Leveraging expertise from our German-based sister company, Interzero, and similar ALBA projects in Asia, our goal is to assist Indonesia in reducing plastic waste impact by boosting collection rates through market creation initiatives.
