I never really knew what was happening under the surface for Evan O'Donnell. We’ve been colleagues and friends for over a decade (📸 proof below). But  I didn’t know the secret Evan was protecting and what it was costing him.  To me, it looked like Evan was doing great: *Ivy League Grad Lives Shiny Life in New York City and Lands Successively Bigger Jobs at Super Impressive Companies* But in the most recent episode of Talentism's Clarifier podcast, Evan shared how much of that success was actually armor, developed as a closeted, young, gay person terrified of the chaos that might come of being his true self. Today, Evan is out. ❤️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜 More than out, he is tapped into a version of himself that is bold, intuitive, risk-taking, and not afraid of deeply personal connection, even at work. This version of himself is not seeking titles at brand name companies and other people's approval –  this version is a founder pursuing his own dream. And a successful one at that. I invite you to listen to Evan’s story – he gets specific and practical about how to grapple with and overcome fear when it arises.  Check out the link in the comments or find The Clarifier on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen. Even though I look nothing like Evan ( see photo!), I can deeply connect to the feeling of being “other” and the need to be unimpeachable to fit in. I know Evan’s story will be relatable, probably cathartic, maybe even instructive for anyone who has ever felt fearful of being fully themselves.
