Check out our new Traineeship Program for Diversity! In a country with over 270 million people with such a large diversity in population but also imminent inequalities, the UN in Indonesia wants to ensure it represents everyone and provides equal opportunities. This program is part of our efforts to reach the furthest left behind populations in Indonesia and to walk the talk by implementing SDG 8 to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all. As stated by our International Labour Organization: ”Millions of women and men around the world are denied access to jobs and training, confined to certain occupations or offered lower pay simply because of their disability, ethnicity, indigenous or tribal status, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, political or other opinion, real or perceived HIV/AIDS-status or other status. The discrimination that certain groups, such as women, ethnic or racial minorities and migrants, face in the labour market makes them highly vulnerable to exploitation and abuses such as forced labour. Barriers to decent jobs often compel parents belonging to an ethnic minority to resort to the labour of their children to make ends meet. Though discrimination can have many manifestations, it is often subtle and insidious, undermining peoples’ dignity and their future. Discrimination deprives people of their voice at work and their ability to fully participate. Discrimination stifles opportunities, wasting the human talent needed for economic progress, and accentuates social tensions and inequalities. Discrimination is a basis for social exclusion and poverty.” #leavenoonebehind #UNinIndonesia 🇺🇳🇮🇩

🌟 Reflecting on a Journey of Discovery & Unity: Farewell, Indonesia! 🌏 As our transformative week in Indonesia comes to a close, we gathered one last time to extend our deepest gratitude and bid farewell to a journey that was nothing short of magical. 🎁 Amidst the exchange of thoughtful gifts and warm thanks, we celebrate the incredible efforts of the team who made this trip possible - Amanda Panayotou, Pak Sulis Indiarto, Mbak Bella Sunoto, and other colleagues from the Australian Embassy; and Mbak Nurul Bahrul Ulum, Mbak Ummu Ulfah Hanifah, and Farhana Zolkifli from the Mosaic Connections team. On behalf of the program directors Brynna Rafferty-Brown and Rowan Gould, our deepest thanks to you all! 👏🏼 And to each and every delegate, kudos to you all for embarking on this unexpected adventure with open hearts and minds. This journey began in the shadow of a global pandemic, when each delegate stepped into the AIMEP experience with uncertainty and hope, perhaps not fully envisioning the profound connections and understanding that would unfold. This experience wasn't just an intellectual exchange; it was the crafting of a mosaic - connecting us all with shared experiences, newfound learnings and lasting connections. 🚀 Our farewell doesn't mark the end, but rather a beautiful milestone on our ongoing journey of connection. The relationships forged and the insights gained during our time in Indonesia will undoubtedly ripple through our lives, communities, and the work we champion moving forward. ✍🏼🫶🏼 What memory or message would you like to share from your AIMEP 2023 experience? ☺✨ #AIMEP2023 #Yogyakarta #Jakarta #FarewellYogyakarta #FarewellIndonesia #DelegatesJourney #AIMEPIndonesia2023 #AIMEPExchange #Indonesia #BuildingBridges #AIMEPConnections #AustraliaIndonesiaRelations #StrongerTogether #CommunityLeadership #CommunityConnection #BuildingConnections #AIMEPAlumni #AlumniReunion #Australians #MuslimExchangeProgram #ExchangeProgram #MosaicConnections #Alumni #Community #Connection #CulturalExchange #AustraliaIndonesia

#StrivingImpact leads the way forward! A year back, my team and I at University of Malaya Economics Society (PEKUMA) formulated a framework to reshape the landscape of student leadership at Universiti Malaya. Through research and trend analysis, we defined four strategic priorities in the #StrivingImpact framework, aimed at fostering a more dynamic and inclusive student society. As we reflect on the accomplishments of PEKUMA Session 2022/2023, it is evident that #StrivingImpact, at least, has paved the way for change: 1. Operating Effectively: The society underwent significant structural changes, welcoming six new Heads of Divisions (HODs) and refining five flagship initiatives. This overhaul ensured that everything remained relevant and seamlessly integrated. Additionally, for the first time in 48 years, we introduced the PEKUMA Brand Guideline, aligning procedures and marking a historic logo amendment. 2. Improving Diversity: We are proud to have achieved gender balance in our recruitment process, maintaining a 1:1 ratio with six males and six females in our Central Committee. This ensures that every decision made reflects diverse perspectives and is free from gender bias. 3. Supporting Credibility: We refined our flagship initiatives to ensure they resonated with our community and the public at large. Each initiative took progressive steps to develop tailored programs. Take UMES led by the Vice President, Ng Jie Xin (Jason), for example—it successfully attracted 12 listing sponsors to the event, showcasing our commitment to impactful partnerships and engagement. 4. Enhancing Visibility: Our media accounts soared, reaching a record-breaking 549% more users and engaging 1,388 accounts across our social platforms. We partnered with industry giants like Khazanah Nasional and PETRONAS through Graduate Employability & Career Centre (GECC), UM to connect students with incredible opportunities. As we move forward, I am glad to see that our successors are carrying on the legacy of #StrivingImpact in the new session. It is a testament to the effectiveness of our framework in guiding student-led societies towards impactful change. More to come! Do follow @pekuma.um on social media platforms for more updates! Here, I am sharing the details of PEKUMA #StrivingImpact In Brief 2023 for everyone to delve into and enjoy.

Sharing Ideas, Knowledge, and Learning Experience Negeri Rempah Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to increasing public awareness to learn and obtain knowledge about Indonesian diversity through educational and cultural activities. Negeri Rempah Foundation starts from a humble beginning. Before it was established, several volunteers from various backgrounds which concerns about how Indonesian young generation is less interested in their history and culture, initiated a series of cultural trip programs with diverse themes since 2012. One of the themes of cultural trips was the history of the spice trade in the Indonesian archipelago. Along with the growth of this community, in 2018 the foundation was established to maintain the sustainability of the program. As #JalurRempah or #SpiceRoute provides unique contextual perspective as an entry point to encourage public to have a new understanding on how spice route has been the melting pot of ideas, concepts, praxis which contributed toward modern civilization, the foundation aims to foster intercultural learning and understanding through cross-sectoral collaborative participation in both local and global context. Through this foundation, experts, professionals and communities from diverse backgrounds share and exchange their knowledge and experience to public. Negeri Rempah Foundation positions itself as a node institution that connects experts, professionals, practitioners, policymakers, and communities from various scientific backgrounds to share their knowledge and experience with the public. Our initiatives cover the fields of education, culture, arts, to business empowerment. Primarily public initiatives, our programs include research; discussions forums and sharing sessions; workshops; book publishing; exhibitions; festivals; cultural expeditions; art and culture collaborations - aiming at broader audience. https://negerirempah.org/

Last month in July 2023 i participated in a volunteer project by AIESEC in Semarang Indonesia to help small and medium enterprises (SME) in my city to improve their potencies as a support to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) number 8. During the project, i saw that SMEs in my city have amazing products in food and hand craft industry but they were struggling with some issues : 1. Marketing and digitalization. Most of the business owners are middle-aged people with highschool level education who were not following the current trends and could not understand how to properly introduce and promote their products to the market and using useful tools in this digital era 2. No financial report. There's no record about income or cashflow of their business and sometimes the money that they got from the sales is mixed with money for their household needs. My team and i got a chance to guide and help a lady with her knitting bag business. We helped her to make contents to promote her products and utilizing tools on social media, product photoshoot, listing the products on e-commerce, making Linktree to redirect customers to the shop's Google map location and her contact and using app to record sales to make financial report, this will also be useful to get funding for business expansion in the future. It is such a pleasure for me as a Business Administration graduate to help small medium enterprises to grow their business to the next level because they have important role in employment absorption and improving the country's economy. #sme #smegrowth #smallbusiness #localbusiness #sdgs #sdg8 #businessadministration #volunteer #aiesec
