A thoroughly enjoyable morning training a super engaged bar team onboard P&O Cruises Ventura on the Gin Tasting Masterclass Experience we developed, to delight and entertain guests onboard. Over the last few months we have provided training across the P&O Cruises fleet, empowering 💪and providing the knowledge to their teams to deliver one of the ultimate at sea 🌊 guest experiences. An absolute pleasure to host two exclusive live distillation and tutored tasting events at the Amathus Drinks PLC South Kensington store yesterday. Brilliant trade and consumer participation over two sessions with 2 bottles of exquisite Micro Batch London Dry Gin produced and enjoyed by all involved. Amazing feedback. Where will I distill next? Whilst Salcombe Distilling Company has one of the only distilleries in the world that is directly accessible by boat, on this occasion it may have to be by the tender to the tender! I agree with Harriet George that this confirms Salcombe as the go to destination for those who appreciate the finer things in life. A busy few days in London this week Imbibe Live rounded off by a visit to the brilliant Amathus Drinks PLC store in South Kensington to see our latest window display. Not gin, but 100% single estate gold rum meticulously hand crafted in Salcombe. Although best known for our amazing gins at Salcombe Distilling Company, we also produce two phenomenal rums. This is definitely one of the perks of the job, nosing and tasting rum for our next release of ‘Lantern Rock’. Produced from scratch, by slow fermenting imported molasses, distilling and ageing at our distillery in Salcombe in ex-bourbon casks from Garrison Brothers Distillery in Texas and Kings County Distillery in New York, ‘Lantern Rock’ is simply stunning. The conditions during maturation are not dissimilar to those in the Caribbean ☀️allowing us to create authentic rums that rival some of the very best from over the pond. What started as a distillers passion project before the COVID pandemic and was finessed during lockdown with Jason Nickels and Andrew Stafford has ended up producing a truly world class product. Great to be back at Bristol Airport 🛫 at the World Duty Free - WDF store with Hilary Hooper and her team for a little consumer research and two days of sampling on back-to-back shifts. Fantastic to introduce new customers to the Salcombe Distilling Company brands. Sales of Salcombe Gin ‘Rose Sainte Marie’ were just ahead of Salcombe Gin ‘Start Point’ today, so it will be interesting to see if it is the same at 5am tomorrow morning. I love customers reactions when they taste our gins and then put the bottle of another brand they had in their hand back on the shelf or decide to splash out and pick up a bottle of Salcombe Gin as well. A brilliant article and debate on the merits of Devon vs. Cornwall by Sarah Lumley and Katie Timms with input from Anna Turns on Devon and Tom Mulvihill on Cornwall. Both are amazing counties in the Southwest with so much to offer and should there be a winner? Opinion will always be split, depending upon your outlook, where you live, childhood memories and experiences lived, but for me and for us as a company, we like to think of Devon and Cornwall as part of the greater Southwest, neighbours or brothers and sisters. Different for sure, but equally fantastic. We have amazing customers and suppliers in Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Sommerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, all part of the greater Southwest.
