During today’s, UCR Staff Assembly and UCR LEAD – Staff Conference, I attended a remarkable and insightful session led by Jacob Ravenscraft on “Positive Traits to Fight the 5 Dysfunctions of a Team.” Here are the pivotal lessons that I learned, igniting profound reflections on team dynamics and strategies: 🚀 Don't let fear dictate trust; instead, strive for vulnerability and openness. 💡 Understanding "Working Genius" by Patrick Lencioni sheds light on seven different types of work that resonate with individuals. This awareness enables teams to optimize performance by aligning tasks with strengths and interests. 🤝 Conflict resolution isn't about who's right but what's right. Mastering conflict involves focusing on solutions and fostering a collaborative environment where every voice is valued. 💬 Decision-making in teams requires trust and transparency. Remember, silence often signifies disagreement, emphasizing the importance of creating an environment where everyone feels empowered to speak up. 📌 Prioritizing team buy-in is essential for success. Weighing in allows for commitment and ownership, leading to more robust decisions and outcomes. 👥 Leaders, it's essential to provide space for team input and to lead by example, embracing vulnerability, and demonstrating trust in the process. 🔍 Inspect before you expect—understanding individual and team dynamics is crucial for effective leadership and decision-making. 🌱 It's crucial to foster a healthy culture by acknowledging our faults and trusting our team to lead, especially in areas where we may feel weak. Overall, participating in Jacob's session was a transformative experience. I'm thankful for the chance to learn from such a dedicated and insightful leader. 🌟 #UCR2024StaffConference #UCRStaffAssembly #ProfessionalDevelopment #TeamDynamics #LeadershipInsights
