Today, I want to take a moment to reflect on the legacy of Bro. Martin Luther King Jr. Before his tragic death, his disapproval rating was very high. However, that did not stop him from fighting for what was right and just. In today's world, we may face similar disapproval ratings for standing up for what we believe in. But like MLK, we must continue to fight for justice and equality. Let us honor his legacy by committing ourselves to the same fight. Check out this article from Pew Research to learn more about how public attitudes toward MLK have changed since the 1960s. #MartinLutherKingJr #SocialJustice #Equality #FightForWhatIsRight

"To live freely and participate in society is a right many take for granted. Achieving and maintaining those civil rights have been a struggle for different groups throughout U.S. history. Civil rights mean more than the protests of the 1950s and 1960s and reach beyond racial and ethnic groups. Today, the struggle has gone from an issue of racial equality to equality for all and new voices are engaging in the discussion, helping to define who we are as a people and a nation." -The National Park Service, NPS.gov At TITAN we believe many of the same principles: • We believe in succeeding together, as individuals and as a team. • We take pride in how we treat people. • We do what is right. Period. • We say "Yes" to a challenge. Today, we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, by joining together with all Americans to reflect and to take action to build equitable communities through ongoing service. #Engineering #Construction #ConcreteShoring

Today, as we reflect on the significance of Martin Luther King Day, I am reminded of the monumental shifts he initiated in our society. His legacy compels me to ponder on my dreams and aspirations, mirroring the profound 'I Have a Dream' ethos. I dream of a world where equal pay for men and women isn't just a hope, but a reality. I envision a society where clubs and communities welcome individuals solely based on their brilliance, irrespective of race or gender. I aspire to see female founders and innovators receiving funding at rates that truly reflect their potential and contributions. I am driven by the ambition to start writing a book. This isn't just about seeing my name in print; it's about sharing my real-life experiences with a wider audience and showcasing the strength of female voices in literature. These dreams, still unfulfilled, gain a sense of urgency and possibility on days like today. Martin Luther King Jr. Day isn't just a commemoration; it's a reminder that these dreams can transform into opportunities. What are your dreams? #legacy #inspiration #founderstories

My hope for 2024 and beyond is that everyone who posted quotes, had speaking engagements, attended events and did community service in honor of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy would also consider committing to three or more of the following: 1. Learn more about the completeness of Dr. King's activism beyond "I Have A Dream". A good start would be to read "Why We Can't Wait" which includes his "Letter from A Birmingham Jail" 2. Honor and support the work of local activists and community organizers who are doing work to change systemic oppression 3. Call out systemic oppression in their organization, company or local community when they see it or hear about it 4. Respect and support the Black leaders, especially the Black women that you work, serve and lead with 5. Show up for and advocate for marginalized people in their communities (not just for a photo op) 6. Elect people in city, county and municipal government that shares Dr. King's values for equity, justice and economic opportunities for all 7. Refuse to be a tool or conduit for the continued marginalization and systemic oppression of Black and Brown people on your job, in your local community or at your local nonprofit #MLKday2024 #martinlutherking #equality #justice #equity #workingclass #mlk #dothework #courageousliving #courageousleadership

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s stamp on our nation will forever symbolize leadership, courage, and hope. As we continue to face racial inequality and the dismantling of DEI initiatives across our country today, we must reflect and recognize the historical achievements of Dr. King – a visionary figure in the American Civil Rights Movement who played a pivotal role in working toward racial equality and social justice. Dr. King's words and powerful acts of nonviolent resistance, grassroots organizing, and civil disobedience were the driving forces behind accomplishing so much for African Americans in the United States during the 1950s and 60s. His legacy of radically advocating for racial equality, social and economic justice, and being a champion for progressing humankind will continue to be significant in our country’s history. Dr. King moved our nation forward with his activism, and we will always celebrate his fight for civil rights. As we look back at the life of Dr. King today, let this day serve as a reminder that the United States still faces racism and injustice…there is still more work to do. #MLKDay #MartinLutherKingDay #RacialJustice #RacialEquality #CivilRights #SocialJustice #DrKingJr

As we commemorate Juneteenth, let’s reflect on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s powerful words: "For more than a century of slavery and another century of segregation, Negroes did not find mass unity nor could they mount mass actions... But in the last decade, Negroes united and marched. And out of the new unity and action, vast monuments of dignity were shaped, courage was forged, and hope took concrete form." Dr. King's observations remind us of the critical role of class and mass actions in the fight for equality. These mechanisms allow marginalized communities to unify, amplify their voices, and challenge systemic injustices. June 19, 1865, marked the emancipation of the last enslaved African Americans in the Confederacy, a pivotal moment in the journey toward justice and equality. For those of us working in law, Juneteenth serves as a powerful reminder of the progress we have made and the ongoing commitment required to uphold justice for all. #Equality #Justice #CivilRights #Juneteenth
