Anyone working with AI/ML should take note. If you want to maximize the dimensionality of your data and minimize label noise, you have to start with quality data. This is especially true if you're trying to curate data for maximum relevance and minimum redundancy. If your model has poor recall, don't blame your data scientists, look at your chemistry.

2nd year Phd student investigating Bacterial genomes🧬, using CRISPR cas9 application on bacterial gene characterization.
I recently received training on one of the latest technologies in genome sequencing using Oxford Nanopore technology, specifically their top-end device, the GridION. This is an intriguing piece of equipment for genome analysts. Nanopore sequencing offers rapid, near-finished bacterial assemblies, making it an ideal tool for surveillance and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) analysis of Salmonella isolates. It can quickly and easily distinguish between the 2,600 variations of Salmonella serotypes by providing whole genome sequencing (WGS) data. For more information on how Oxford nanospore technology has evaluated salmonella serotyping , you can refer to the article here. https://lnkd.in/gJyqGNJc As a researcher, it is crucial to stay informed about the latest technologies in your field and to compare the data outcomes from both older and newer technologies. For bacterial genome analysts, sequencing is essential for gene characterization, and Oxford Nanopore provides an excellent option. #genomesequecning #bacterialgenomes #gene #wholegenomesequencing #technology #salmonella #oxfordnanospore #gridion 🧬 📈 📉 🖥️

#Review Strategies for Improving Small-Molecule Biosensors in Bacteria by Corwin A. Miller, Joanne M. L. Ho and Matthew R. Bennett https://lnkd.in/eeTHcxrx MDPI Rice University #bacterialbiosensor #biosensorengineering #proteinengineering #geneticengineering #geneticcircuits #openaccess #Abstract In recent years, small-molecule biosensors have become increasingly important in synthetic biology and biochemistry, with numerous new applications continuing to be developed throughout the field. For many biosensors, however, their utility is hindered by poor functionality. Here, we review the known types of mechanisms of biosensors within bacterial cells, and the types of approaches for optimizing different biosensor functional parameters. Discussed approaches for improving biosensor functionality include methods of directly engineering biosensor genes, considerations for choosing genetic reporters, approaches for tuning gene expression, and strategies for incorporating additional genetic modules.

We develop tools for unlocking the natural products of biosynthetic gene clusters, even ones that are cryptic or not expressed under laboratory conditions. In another recent paper out of Christine Beemelmanns' Lab at Universität des Saarlandes and published in Royal Society of Chemistry Advances, the authors examined a cryptic cluster called 'mdk'. Terra Bioforge captured the 36-kb gene cluster using our DNAtrap™ and cloned it to our pDualP expression vector. This dual-inducible expression system activated the mdk cluster, allowing the authors to characterize its green-pigmented product seongomycin. https://lnkd.in/gp7r9tAW
