🌏 Worlds First 🌏 Caranx Medical announces the successful implantation of a transcatheter heart valve in animal with robotic assistance. Because of the relatively recent adoption of TAVI procedures (20 years), cardiologists face significant difficulties and long learning curves to achieve precise and accurate valve replacement. This has led to a shortage of skilled professionals who can do Tavi. 🤯 As a result, only 300,000 TAVI procedures are performed each year in the US and EU, while more than 1,700,000 patients wait to be treated. This coupled with a high complication rate, leads to a large need for pacemakers post-op. 🦾 Step in Caranx, who with a combination of robotics, ai, and imaging, aim to reduce complications, shrink the learning curve and upskill more surgeons to do Tavi. “This is a major breakthrough made by the Caranx team in recent months. However, we do not intend to stop at replacing the aortic valve.
