The TUM.ai #Makeathon last weekend was nothing short of epic 🚀 Huge congrats to everyone who made it such a success, even if it meant missing out on the sunny weather! ☀️ Our team, including rockstars Julia Walczak, David von Nobbe, Ole B. (and myself), had the thrilling task of choosing from a lineup of incredible challenges sponsored by giants like Salesforce, Mercedes-Benz AG, Reply, and LMU Klinikum München. Ultimately, we were drawn to the challenge set forth by osapiens: using satellite images, AI, and our creativity to combat deforestation. 🌳💡 Despite our collective newbie status with CNN and satellite data, we dove in headfirst, embracing the hackathon spirit of pushing boundaries and learning on the fly. Our approach? We crafted a temporal knowledge graph using #raphtory to track snapshots of the Amazon over time. Each image's metadata became a node, complete with a link to its Azure-stored image. Our model segmented each image, providing insight into forest cover at various stages. We then mapped out relationships between images, including key features like logging roads, to predict future deforestation risks. Our plan to feed this graph into a GNN got delayed... by a little thing called sleep! 😴 Special thanks are in order: - To my stellar team for reminding me why doing what we do is so fun 🌟 - The TUM.ai crew for orchestrating an out-of-this-world event. Building Vyrtual | Techstars '23 in Public 037 Autonomy. The Future of Work is accelerating towards autonomous teams powered by AI in order to 10-100x productivity and reduce the burn rate. Everyday kids are also accelerating towards their version of autonomy. This is major for parents building and working from home because it creates so much more time and space for everyone to maximize their potential. Our oldest just received a walking bike for her sisters birthday… 🤣 But seeing her become more and more independent is fun to watch and also very rewarding. For Vyrtual, over time we will train PAI, our smaller language model to be the engine of our autonomous teams, which should make the founder journey much more enjoyable.

[Hackathon Valeo x Artefact] 🤝 In collaboration with the Google Cloud and Artefact teams, Valeo, a global leader in mobility technologies, held its first #hackathon dedicated to Generative AI. 💡 Over 3 days, leveraging 600 proposed ideas, more than 120 collaborators in 16 teams worked together to build solutions aimed at transforming #GenerativeAI into tangible solutions for Valeo. These solutions were then evaluated by a jury composed of members of Valeo's executive committee. 🗣 According to Christophe Périllat, CEO of Valeo: "This first hackathon reflects the spirit of innovation that prevails at Valeo. Our teams collaborate and tackle technological challenges daily, worldwide, to make tomorrow's mobility safer, greener, and more connected." 🎯 Through this hackathon, Valeo had several objectives: ・To bring forth new ideas ・To capitalize on team ideas and identify disruptive opportunities arising from AI ・To foster a unified Valeo spirit 🗣 Vincent Luciani, CEO of Artefact, points out: “The synergy of these skills, combining deep expertise in #innovation and our technical know-how, reflects our #leadership in creating innovative solutions dedicated to our clients.” On the Artefact side, we mobilized our design thinking specialists, who guided Valeo teams throughout the ideation process, as well as our Data Science experts, to assist teams in designing robust prototypes. When sustainability strategist Milan Meyberg approached us with a vision to give the ocean a voice, we knew we wanted to join forces. Our mission? To develop an AI-driven prototype, dubbed 'Emissary of GAIA', to represent the ocean and advocate for its rights on a global stage. From concept to reality, our journey has been nothing short of remarkable. In just eight weeks, we transformed Milan's brainwave into a fully interactive presentation using generative AI. With Milan's expertise and our technical prowess, we pushed the boundaries of what's possible in AI technology. Together, we crafted a persona for 'The Ocean' using cutting-edge AI models. 1 week, 10 Teams, a number of breakfasts, and a whole lot of fun!!! What's that? The Vendavo Innovation Week of course =) While I've mostly been involved in 24 hour Hackathons, I have to admit, giving Teams a whole week to work on fun, creative, and awe-inspiring ideas was super, super cool! Bonus this year, we assigned a theme all around, AI. While it did provide more of a guardrail for some Teams, notice I say some =) I was really impressed with the array of projects that were delivered. BIG thanks to everyone who took part, and of course to Michal Slíva for creating such an epic logo, as well as Petr Nesladek, MBA & Tomas Novotny for running it. Finally, for those who use our products, stay tuned. A huge part of these types of events is to make sure we come up with ideas which can provide even more value to our Customers. Many of you were probably sitting at home on your comfy couch wondering - what new projects does Nicole have planned for this summer? 🤔🤔 Fear not, I'm about to share my seasonal schedule. 🦩 I joined buildspace’s s5 program. Over the next six weeks, I am working on a platform to make it easier for existing communities to form more meaningful connections. Alongside some of the most ambitious and inspiring individuals, each bringing their unique ideas to life. buildspace, funded by Y Combinator and a16z, is a place dedicated to fostering community-wide success and innovation. So far, I’ve been inspired by the charisma of the founder Farza Majeed, which made me think about how I can create a product that inspires people in my communities. 🦩 Following that, I moved to a paradise in the woods of #Portugal to live with a bunch of creative, exciting, inspiring, and very cool people. This place is a stopping point for many people from all around the world who are unique thinkers. The question that guides me at this point is - how can I find people within communities like Minerva University, The Bronfman Fellowship, conscious communities, digital nomads, and tech lovers in an easier way and help form more meaningful connections that go beyond job titles and current roles? I would be happy to talk to any of you who feel they want to find more genuine connections in their existing networks. 🦩 And last but not least- I started working with Hirundo - a machine unlearning platform that finds and removes unwanted data from your AI models. A super interesting product that I would be happy to connect you to if you're part of the #deeptech community, a #datascientist, #CISO, or #CTO. I feel I'm in a very unique geographical as well as intellectual position at this point in time, and I aim to bring more authenticity to this platform by sharing my experiences.
