National Black Philanthropy Month, an annual month-long, global celebration of African-descent giving, was created in August 2011 by Dr. Jackie Bouvier Copeland and the Pan-African Women’s Philanthropy Network (PAWPNet) and is held every August. Five Facts to Know About Black Philanthropy 1. The practice of giving in the Black community has been around for centuries. 2. The term “philanthropy” does not fully embrace just how diverse the nature of giving is, in practice. 3. Black households donate a higher share of their wealth than white households. 4. Giving in the Black community comes in many different forms. 5. Black Philanthropy IS Philanthropy. #church #nonprofit #generis #generisteam #fundraising #giving #success #advancement #christianeducation #generosity #philanthropy

Happy Giving Tuesday! By making a donation to Black Political Cultivation AZ today, you are supporting grassroots organizing to build up and strengthen the bonds of the Black community as we expand our political consciousness and involvement, so that we can continue to advocate together and take on the White Supremacist institutions that were built on our backs to keep us caged in bondage. Our organization moves in coalition with other locally-rooted Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) organizations and alliances to advocate on the urgent issues that directly impact us, including environmental justice and climate action, and reproductive rights and justice. Community resources in the form of financial support are deeply needed to fuel and fortify the work we have laid out in front of us: 2024 is set to include a diversity of critical challenges that demand our effort. What’s ahead of us is a lot more fight, but also the endless possibility that is born from our passion and collaboration—we invite you to be a part of this now. Step up and meet the moment, starting with your financial backing. If you can afford it, we encourage you to make #donations starting at $15 today. The very best way to support us is to sign up to be a recurring donor starting at $5 a month or more. If you are from Baltimore, when someone asks, "What school did you go to?", they don't mean college! Savannah Wood tells us: "I am a graduate of Baltimore School for the Arts and in true Baltimore fashion, I rep that way harder than the university I graduated from. I am slooooowly working on a film about my family's 7+-generations-deep history in Maryland. As executive director of Afro Charities, Inc., I spend most of my time working to make the historic The AFRO-American Newspapers archives more accessible to the public." #classof2023Leadership
