We are delighted to reveal our half-year report, highlighting Aquatic Life Institute (ALI)'s key achievements thus far in 2024. We are committed to alleviating the suffering of the trillions of aquatic animals that are farmed and caught for human consumption each year. We achieve this by advocating for improved certification standards, influencing corporate practices, and shaping government policies, all with the support of our coalition of 145+ member organizations. Some highlights from our report: ✔️Blueyou launched the first-ever animal welfare policy for a global seafood brand, created with ALI's guidance, setting a new industry standard. ✔️Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) removed the “stress test” from Shrimp Handling Management System requirements following ALI’s feedback. ✔️Washington State passed a law against octopus farming, driven by efforts from ALI and several other organizations. ✔️ALI published a brief on the benefits of addressing aquatic animal welfare in corporations. ✔️ALI welcomed 2 new board members - the talented Hira Jaleel and sean gifford. We are grateful to our incredible team for making these achievements possible, and we are committed to driving even more impactful change this year and beyond.
