On Day 4 of H.O.P.E. 5.0, the Rotaract Club of DOC, DSE executed 4 events under Project Vasudha and 2 events under Project Pawsitivity 2.0: 1. Plog Run: Cleaned an MCD park, promoting cleanliness and stewardship. 2. Plantathon: Planted 30 saplings nationwide, enhancing greenery. 3. Bags of Hope: Held a paper bag making workshop with 27 orphanage children. 4. Project Pawsitivity 2.0- Feeding Cows: Fed 26 cows with grass cut from the college. 5. Project Pawsitivity 2.0 - Feeding Monkeys: Provided food for 47 monkeys. 6. Project Green Thumb: Collaborated with Rotaract Club of Dyal Singh College to spread message of environmental revival. What does the word “home” mean to you? When asked that question, different people are going to give different answers. Some might say, home is wherever my family is. Someone else might consider home to be an an entire city – or even country. And a lot of people would probably say home is a place where they feel safe and want to come back to after a long day. These are all great answers. However, when it comes down to it, we all share the same home – the earth! Hey, it’s #NationalTreeWeek and 50 Years since the “Plant a tree in ‘73” idea was sprouted by The Tree Council. To do our little bit, we’ve just funded a bunch of Alder, Silver Birch and Hawthorn trees through Ecologi | B Corp™. Bringing our total neatly up to 1,000 trees alongside other ecological projects. Even better, is that these new trees are just down the road in Horsham, West Sussex, our neighbouring county with planting partner Protect Earth. We love Ecologi because we can see exactly where all investments go, right down to an individual sapling, along with the carbon impact it will have over its lifetime. It's not an offsetting thing, just a way of putting some profit to work for a good cause. You might also notice that our the small green studio logo is a tree. Made from bokeh; the blurry floating balls of light you find in the back of photos and videos. 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 Plogging goes beyond just cleaning up the environment. It creates a sense of community and promotes the importance of personal well-being and environmental health. This shared commitment leads to a knowledgeable and engaged group of individuals who continue to thrive through volunteerism, ensuring that their efforts expand and have a lasting impact. The interaction between plogging participants and the local community is crucial in building trust, which is essential for the sustainability and growth of these initiatives. At Plogging-Ethiopia, we have seen firsthand how the establishment of a strong volunteer community and the increasing interaction with regular visitors to Entoto Park have contributed to the success of our approach. Personally, I have experienced a stronger connection during these activities compared to my own neighborhood. The warm greetings, hugs, and friendly exchanges with the regulars in the park have become a memorable part of my engagement with them. Plogging not only helps clean up plastic litter but also fosters social interactions and meaningful connections among participants and park visitors. This sense of community not only benefits the environment but also has a positive impact on mental health and overall social well-being. This weekend, we had 20 enthusiastic participants join us for three plogging activities, covering Entoto Park and Koye-Fechie. Together, we covered over 30 kilometers and removed more than 20 kilograms of plastic litter. This not only demonstrates the tangible environmental impact but also highlights the strength and vitality of our plogging community. Long focused on inspiring Healthy People, a Healthy Planet and a Healthy Way of Life, the Life Time Foundation has recently increased its focus on the Healthy Planet element of our mission with hyper-focused on supporting forestation and conservation initiatives. To date, we have provided more than $1.2 million in grants, positively impacting us all (including more than 27,000 children) by: - Helping to conserve over 100 acres of existing forests. - Supporting efforts to restore endangered tree species. - Establishing school food forests, offering edible gardens and learning opportunities outside the classroom on nutrition and the environment. - Planting roots for the community through the creation of a pocket forest to act as a natural oasis and sanctuary. These efforts are just the beginning of inspiring a healthier planet, and we look forward to making an even bigger impact for future generations! Planting a tree may sound like a small thing, but when multiple people come together to do their bit, it’ll have a huge outcome in the long run.
