In addition to running my own PR consulting firm, I have also been the GM of a non-profit travel baseball program - created in NYC six years ago to provide opportunities for all kids - regardless of economic status. Every year, the East River Sharks baseball program provides scholarships to kids from various parts of NYC who can't afford the cost of joining a travel baseball team. Many of our coaches are volunteers, and we rely on donations to keep the organization running and the kids on the field! Currently 70% of our players are on scholarship! This week, for 4 days only, we are raising money for our non-profit baseball program the East River Sharks! It is weird to post this on LI, but it is part of my world of work, and part of giving back. If you are corporation, we would love your sponsorship if you are looking for a worthy cause. Or if you just want some popcorn and want to send a quick donation (by the way the popcorn is awesome), then click the link below! We are using the funds to create two new younger teams as many of our players are now in high school and college. Need more convincing about how you can help... consider this... 2 of our players have gone to the show (SF Giants and AZ Diamondbacks) 30 of our players over the last 6 years are now playing in college. And, there are more players out there to help! #nonprofits #nonprofit #baseball #youthempowerment #youthsports https://lnkd.in/eBb6gphK

In the realm of major gift & capital campaign fundraising -one thing is for certain... Volunteerism is a key to raising significant revenues, accessing advocates to further the cause has no price but has great value. It can't be done with them. I recently said to a Founder of a wonderful organization that nothing happens without a 'champion'. Often this is a passionate volunteer who freely gives of their time, talent, and treasure. But what about us who are 'paid to raise'? Do we need to give of our time as well? Absolutely. I am a better practitioner because of my unpaid involvements in organizations like Rotary International, AFP Global, among others. Today I wish to let you know about an organization that I volunteer with, that is all volunteer run -no paid staff at all. M4M www.Medals4Mettle.org was started by Dr. Steve Isenberg MD almost 20 years ago. Competitive runners like myself award medals to cancer patients, plus others with life-threatening conditions. Both children and adults who are in the throws of cancer are the recipients of medals to encourage them in their own race. to date, an astounding 70,000 medals have been given. Wow. The medals are awarded to individuals who are "running a much more difficult race," often with an unknown finish line. The mission of M4M is to appreciate the pay-it-forward concept that links the distance runner’s mettle with the mettle it takes to battle life challenges. The donor's acknowledgement of the recipient's mettle encourages the recipient and creates a human connection honouring the grit, courage, and bravery they share. #medals4mettle #doitbecause

I am an accomplished and results-driven, enablement professional with a proven track record of driving revenue growth and surpassing sales targets in dynamic and competitive markets.
Coach Brett Vavra and his dedicated staff have poured their hearts into this program, and the impact is nothing short of remarkable. As someone who grew up within this programs embrace, I've witnessed firsthand the transformative power it holds for young men. Football isn't just a game; it's a classroom where nearly 100 young men learn the most important lessons life has to offer. An entire ecosystem of growth and opportunity. Teaching loyalty, teamwork, resilience, goal-setting, and accountability—qualities that are sadly scarce in today's world. For many, football is their lifeline. Without the guidance and support of their teammates and coaches, far too many would find themselves lost in the world of darkness that exists off the field and outside the classroom. Your contribution isn't just an investment in a football program; it's an investment in the future of these boys. It helps fuel a vehicle that shapes them into the compassionate, resilient leaders our world desperately needs. Every little bit helps. If you aren’t in the position to donate, I encourage you to share this post. #GOJACKETS

10X In 2022, I transitioned out of my teaching role and transitioned City League into a nonprofit. It was a HUGE leap of passion and I was only able to do it with the support of my partner, Andrew’s, encouragement. I took a 75% pay cut (from a teacher’s salary) to give City League a chance. The first two years are all about laying the foundation, acquiring sustainable funding, building partnerships and spreading awareness. One of the pieces of my vision includes connecting the athletic, fitness and movement related companies, groups and organizations with City League through a Run-A-Thon —Those of us who have been transformed through engagement in sports and want to see that the future generations of St. Louis have the same opportunities. The Run-A-Thon. I had a vision in my head and was determined to bring it to life. Last year, we had 11 runners participate (my friends and running community) and the board chair (Corey Quinn, Ed.D.) brought his family to volunteer to tally laps. It was a grassroots, year one effort. I knew, I just KNEW this event would grow. Last Saturday, City League hosted the 2nd Annual Run-A-Thon event. We had 126 participants and 30 volunteers. Two times more volunteers this year than participants last. The growth of the event was more than 10X. “until you become completely obsessed with your mission, no one will take you seriously. Until the world understands that you're not going away—that you are 100 percent committed and have complete and utter conviction and will persist in pursuing your project—you will not get the attention you need and the support you want.” ― Grant Cardone, The 10X Rule: The Only Difference Between Success and Failure It’s no secret, I am completely obsessed with this mission. Kids. School Sports. Growth and St. Louis City. Join me if you connect with the mission, too. Let's 10X again.
