🤝 A fruitful cooperation ! 🚅📝 Eurailtest, via our partner laboratory AEF SNCF Voyageurs SNCF Matériel , has contributed to the testing of adaptive wheel slip protection technology in an operational environment (train #SNCF Regiolis). This collaboration between Eurailtest and Wabtec Corporation is a demonstration of our shared commitment to technical excellence and safety in rail transport. 🔍 Among the keys aspects of these tests, we contributed to: - Obtaining the file authorizing access to the RFN under trial traffic conditions - Organizing traffic on the RFN (drivers, train paths, test conductors), as well as the measures required to issue the test report for homologation. #wabtec #eurailtest
Wabtec Corporation is revolutionizing the way world moves (and stops), with #DistanceMaster, an innovative adaptive wheel slide protection solution for transit rail applications. Designed to reduce braking distance reliably and consistently under any weather conditions, DistanceMaster enables transit operators to improve efficiency and safely increase network capacity. Wabtec conducted laboratory tests at Deutsche Bahn Systemtechnik’s accredited lab in Minden, Germany. We also worked with Eurailtest, an accredited laboratory, to test the adaptive wheel slide protection technology in an operational environment on an #SNCF Regiolis train. Watch to see some of the test trials… Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gY9R6CCB #ExpandThePossible #Innovation #WabtecTransit #WeAreWabtec #RevolutionizeTheWayTheWorldMoves

We’ve made another major step on the road towards a signals-free East Coast Main Line! Working with our East Coast Digital Programme partners, we’ve successfully sent an ETCS movement authority from trackside to a train for the first time on an intercity mainline route. Movement authorities provide important information such as how far and fast trains can be run. They are sent from trackside European Train Control System Radio Block Centres to onboard systems. Far more information can be shared with the driver than the simple information a train could traditionally display, making for a higher capacity and more reliable railway. It also enhances safety performance as the permitted speed is constantly monitored. This not only represents a significant milestone for the East Coast Main Line, it’s also an important step forward for Britain’s digital signalling future. It means we’re closer to deploying a system that is considerably more dynamic and more carbon efficient than conventional signalling. That to me is an exciting piece of rail transformation. #RailwayTransformation #TransformTheEveryday #BuiltInBritain

The #Dutch government will provide subsidies amounting to 24 million euros for the adaptation of rail vehicles to level 2, baseline 3 or higher of the #EuropeanTrainControlSystem (#ETCS). The regulation is aimed at curbing the negative impact of #ERTMS upgrade costs incurred by operators, which do not stand to benefit financially from upgrading rail vehicles. #railfreight #railfreightnews #railcargonews

Locomotive remote control tested in Switzerland According to the Swiss Federal Railways (CFF), the tests announced in summer 2023 are completed successfully. A total of 24 train drivers operated an electric shunting locomotive at a speed of up to 30 km/h using the Alstom remote control console. The tests were conducted at the Zurich Mulligen marshalling yard under live operational conditions. To ensure safety, a train driver and a test ride supervisor were always on board the remotely operated locomotive. According to the Swiss operator, such tests conducted during on-going operations are among the first in Europe. As it was noted by SBB representatives, remote train operation could be especially useful for moving trains between storage and departure tracks, driving a malfunctioning train to a safe zone, providing overhaul or maintenance service, and other similar operations with short-distance movements. However, the implementation of the new technology requires the developing of a strong regulatory framework aligned with other EU countries. Besides, in 2024 and 2025, SBB plans to test automatic train start-up, acceleration and braking in freight transport, as well assistance systems in signal and obstacle recognition.
