It is crucial to create a comprehensive roadmap for film school graduates. Schwartz highlights the importance of combining artistic and academic knowledge with practical skills that graduates will need upon entering the industry. This approach ensures that students leave film school equipped not only with a theoretical understanding of filmmaking practice, but also with the real-world expertise necessary for their future careers to flourish.

· 5% of media industry employees are over age 50, that’s nearly 7.4 x lower than the Australian workforce average
· The average age in the media industry is 32 years, compared to 39 years in the Australian workforce
· Only 18.5% of our media workforce is over 40 years vs the Aust workforce at 62%.

Great work by Myriam, she highlights what a lot of us know, but that industry leaders rarely acknowledge. The film and TV industry favours those crew who have financial support - with it's freelance model and long periods off work. Without addressing that 'post grad' or 'post school' how do we expect it to change? There is funding for LSA and NFTS, but what happens after that? If streamers, broadcasters or gov are going to support anywhere it should include paid internship and shadowing with regular assessments. Making the choice to enter the creative industries is rarely an easy one. It can be seen as risky, unconventional and unwise. But these are real industries. These are real careers. I have such respect for people who chase their passions to build their careers in the creative industries. Here are three examples of Toronto Film School grads who have done that. Congrats to them and to all of our alumni making big waves around the world.

Is Film School Still Relevant in Today’s Film Industry?
In an era where digital tools and online learning are more accessible than ever, is traditional film school still a must for aspiring filmmakers? Here are a few points to consider:
Access to Equipment: Film schools offer high-end gear and facilities, but are affordable digital tools making this less essential?
Networking: Schools provide great networking opportunities, but can today’s connected world offer similar or better networks outside of formal education?
Structured Learning vs. DIY: Film schools provide a structured learning path. With online tutorials and courses available, is formal education still crucial?
Industry Prestige: Graduating from a top film school carries prestige. How much does this still matter in our increasingly democratized film landscape?
Cost: Given the high cost of film school, are there more cost-effective ways to start a career in film?
Real-World Experience: How well do film schools integrate hands-on, real-world experience, and can these be replicated through other means?

A group of celebrities have come together to champion T-levels, raising awareness of how T-levels bridge the divide between classroom and workplace, equipping young people with practical skills and real-world experience.
Young people’s confidence is at an all-time low with just 7% believing they will land the job they want.
The T-team is spreading the word about T-levels and the benefits they offer young people. A post-GCSE option alongside A-levels and apprenticeships, young people have a range of options open to them after finishing a T-level; from going into skilled employment, to starting an apprenticeship, or further study at university.
