💚 Green social prescribing and Active Travel social prescribing. Do you know what it is? 🤔 Well you can find out more here... We're a part of Active Travel England's, Active Travel Social Prescibing Pilot in a several areas across the UK including Bath and North East Somerset. 👟 Active travel social prescribing involves recommending or prescribing physical activities such as walking or cycling as a means of transportation to improve health and well-being. It's instead of relying solely on traditional modes of transportation like cars or public transport, individuals are encouraged to incorporate active travel daily routines. This approach promotes physical activity, reduces carbon emissions, and can lead to various health benefits such as improved cardiovascular health, weight management, and mental well-being. It's a holistic approach that integrates physical activity into everyday life, enhancing both personal health and environmental sustainability. 🌿 Green social prescribing involves the recommendation or referral of individuals to engage with nature-based activities or environments to improve their physical, mental, and social well-being. It acknowledges the therapeutic benefits of nature and encourages people to connect with the outdoors for health benefits. ❤️ This patient wellbeing approach helps to: improve mental health outcomes, reduce health inequalities and reduce demand on the health and social care system 💫 The Active Way with Bath & North East Somerset Council project starts with 26 hyper-local walking routes across communities like Midsomer Norton, Paulton, Radstock and more. We're workind to ensure that everyone can participate in the joy of walking, regardless of ability or background. Almost half of our trails have been designed to be flat without steps or stiles, inviting individuals of all ages and fitness levels to put on their shoes and join us on a new journey of exploration. Many of the routes start and end at community GP surgeries and healthcare facilities. We are on the countdown to hosting our first Challenger Seminar Series for 2024! Next week, we will see a distinguished panel of speakers address some big questions at the nexus of health and policy. How can community health and wellbeing in Queensland take a giant leap forward by 2050? How could the 2032 Brisbane Olympics contribute to this? And what role can other community activities, like the performing arts, help? With players across academia, preventative health, the arts and beyond all working together to achieve positive public health outcomes, the time has now come to ask, ‘what can we all do?’. Questions around the challenges and roles of those in public purpose work when it comes to the future of public health will be asked at what will be an engaging and insightful Challenger Seminar. Held on the 27th June at 1WS, you will connect with an esteemed panel of leading experts who will share their insight and perspective and shed light on the opportunities and solutions that require collective action across Queensland. Free for individual members and discounted for organisational members, we are excited to present this Challenger in partnership with Health and Wellbeing Queensland. An essential event for anyone interested in public health, public purpose collaboration, and those wanting to understand more about dealing with complexity with creativity in public policy. Secure your seat now. https://lnkd.in/gTP3j9gB #ipaainsights #ipaaqld2024 #keepinformed #challengeyourthinking #keepinformed

Service design community - How does the awareness stage of a service lead into the start of the actual health service? how do the stages intersect, connect, incorporate or are they 2 different entities? Does anyone have any examples they have seen and or experienced where awareness transitions into the start of the service? (good or bad examples) #servicedesign #publichealth #healthdesign

We are excited to have inputted into and finally launched ‘Respiratory Health Among Residents of Oliver Bond House’ report developed by Trinity College Dublin School of Medicine at lunchtime today. The report identifies a significant disparity between incidences of asthma among individuals with an address in Oliver Bond House compared to individuals with addresses elsewhere in Dublin 8- Oliver Bond House residents are 2.4 times more likely to have asthma in their medical records compared to individuals with addresses elsewhere. Considered alongside physical conditions reported on in Robert Emmet CDP’s earlier ‘Environmental Conditions in Oliver Bond House’ -83% of households report damp and mould, 74% report poor insulation and drafts, 34% report water ingress into the home etc- this latest report lays bare the human cost of Dublin City Councils apparent derogation of duties as they relate to providing a safe and habitable space conducive to the health and wellbeing of residents of Oliver Bond House. Also, while it is lamentable that data like this did not already exist- statutory authorities cannot be expected to discharge their responsibilities in a rational manner if they have not developed an understanding of the populations they are serving- it’s exciting that this inaction creates a vacuum and consequent potential for communities, in partnership with relevant experts, to directly develop data that can be used to steer their own development into the future. Many thanks to everyone who made today possible- Oliver Bond House Residents Group whose resilience and continued constructive approach to engaging with relevant authorities is to be commended. To Jack R. Lehane and colleagues from Smart D8 who funded the project. To Trinity College Dublin School of Medicine and four lead report authors- Noel McCarthy, Catherine Hayes, Dr Darach Ó Ciardha and Dylan C. for bringing this to pass and being understanding and supportive of the purposes the report was being used for. To Joseph Little Head of Building Performance and Construction in School of Architecture, Building and Environment (SABE), TU Dublin for expert input on the Causes of Surface Condensation and Mould, and the Responsibility of Relevant Parties to Alleviate Them. To the elected representatives who attended on the day and whom have been supportive of this over recent months and to the media who have provided significant coverage to this topic. Report available via link below- for more information please email: [email protected] https://lnkd.in/e5DDFbhH

Building the future of autoimmune diseases care at Kuma Health | Co-founder | Chief Medical & Product Officer
3wSuch a great conversation Bon Ku. It resonates so much with my experience as a doctor gaining skills in design and doing my best to leverage these to improve healthcare quality and experience for everyone. The challenges of rural care in the US also resonates a lot with what we're building at Kuma Health, as making quality care more accessible for people with autoimmune disease is at the core of our mission.
