"""Suicide among teens and young adults has nearly tripled since the 1940s, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with about 4,600 adolescents taking their own lives each year. While suicide was the 10th leading cause of death for all ages in 2013, it was the third leading cause of death for children ages 10 to 14 — and the second leading cause of death for people ages 15 to 34."" Passion for practice development. Vulnerable leadership inspiring trauma informed therapeutic interventions that support the wellbeing of children, infants, youth and families.
Adverse childhood experiences increase the rates of Domestic Violence. “The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that ending child maltreatment may reduce the rate of domestic violence by three quarters” (Van der Kolk, 2016). Families, teens and children need to be able to access quality (trauma proficient) services in a timely manner. Our systems need to think about how we are creating safe environments that promote brain development, emotional regulation and healthy relationships early and often. We need to train our workforce to engage meaningfully with men who use violence to increase accountability and long term behaviour change through therapeutic relationships. We can intervene early and often. Abuse is never okay. #EndDomesticViolence #NotNowNotEver

Finding an increased number of child cases can serve as a valuable indicator of achieving zero leprosy transmission. This is because when a child below the age of 15 is diagnosed with leprosy, it strongly suggests that they contracted the disease relatively recently, based on their age. Consequently, the presence of leprosy in children acts as a reliable marker of recent and ongoing community transmission of the disease, as children have not had enough time to contract it many years ago. Therefore, it is crucial to monitor and record child cases in order to assess the progress in eliminating leprosy transmission and #BeatNTDs #leprosytransmission #childcases
