Today (8/2) is the last day to purchase tickets for our ArtDinner on Monday, August 5 at The Aperture! In addition to an exquisite culinary experience with Chef and Owner Jordan Anthony Brown, a highlight of the evening will be intimate talks with acclaimed artists Kathryne Gardette and Charles Gaines. Get to know them before you attend: Renowned conceptual artist Charles Gaines envisioned ArtWorks’ new ArtPark mural, “Numbers and Trees: Cincinnati Cottonwoods” as part of his tree series that explores nature and politics through systems and processes. The mural is nearly complete and sits across the street from ArtWorks new headquarters. Kathryne Gardette is a positive broker: artistic – logistic – civic. She’s the current Walnut Hills Business Group president, an ArtWorks Board Member, and designer of the ArtWorks’ Gilbert Avenue Gateway Mural, featuring West African Adinkra symbols to celebrate the diverse and collaborative neighborhood that is Walnut Hills. Purchase your tickets before it's too late: https://bit.ly/4clGt5Z #ArtForAll

Have you been to an art museum or gallery? #RotaryPresents Lynette Scott from Artlink shared some powerful insights to dispell the misunderstandings about appreciating art. Art is too expensive - not true. Not everyone needs a Van Gogh to own art that means something to you Art expertise is a requirement - your engagement with art is your own experience Art should be an investment - art doesn't have to increase in monetary value for it to be valuable to you. Art can enrich in emotional, mental, and spiritual ways that are far more valuable than how much you can sell it for in 20 years. Art collections must be big - what art does in your life is up to you. A couple of pieces can be as valuable to you as a large collection can be to professional collector. Art must match your decor - trust your instincts. As a professional in design, Lynette advises that decor doesn't have to match. Just needs to mean something to you. Start your collection by listening to yourself, asking questions, and connecting with the artist and their art. A join the community of peers appreciating art at one of Artlink's many events.

From California.com: Street art in Los Angeles transcends the traditional gallery space, bringing art to the public in a way that is accessible and unmediated. This democratization of art allows for a unique intersection of voices, from renowned international artists to local creatives, each contributing to the city's visual narrative. The murals, graffiti, and installations that adorn L.A.'s urban landscape are more than mere aesthetics; they are stories told on the canvas of the city itself, reflecting the dreams, struggles, and resilience of its inhabitants. The cultural significance of L.A.'s street art can be traced back to the Chicano Art Movement of the 1960s and 70s, where murals became a form of political expression and cultural affirmation for the Mexican-American community. Today, this tradition continues as street art addresses a plethora of themes, from social justice and environmental concerns to the celebration of cultural heritage and personal identity. Strategic Copywriter and Trend Researcher | I Work With Agencies and Client Partners to Bring Meaning and Clarity to Communication
I've noticed a revival in Art Deco aesthetics lately and it just feels so 'right' for where we are in our historical context. This article articulates it really well and was a bit of an 'aha' moment for me. "[Art Deco is] defined, first and foremost, by wanting, needing, and having to be multiple things at once. Progress meets timelessness; tradition meets modernity; glass meets stone. " https://lnkd.in/dd-tDNcP
