People only see the tip of the iceberg... Engaging in advocacy efforts, policy initiatives, and public awareness campaigns can raise visibility and awareness of the rights and needs of athletes with disabilities in the sports community and beyond. Collaborating with sports organisations, policymakers, and #media outlets can help promote inclusive policies and ensure accurate and respectful representation of athletes with disabilities in the media. Disability Sport Auckland raises #awareness of the importance of #inclusion and representation in sports and works to break barriers to participation and success for athletes with #disabilities. Creating the very first Wheelchair Rugby League programme in #newzealand was the result of: - Collaborating with New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL), Warriors Community Foundation, Auckland Rugby League and Counties Manukau Rugby League. - Using all our medias platforms created awareness in a new community. - The outcome, apart from the smiles from the kids, is the change in policies and strategies for those collaborating organisations in the months to come. One of the main goals of our CSR For Parasport project is to make good practices related to the investment in parasport visible to the general public. Please welcome our fourth and final summary of good practices, which comes from SLOVAKIA! 22 parasports are present in Slovakia, including team sports, which require strong partners, also from the business side. Kaufland significantly supports para-hockey, which is an emerging team sport in Slovakia, also in the para division. For even more good practices watch the video at the following link: https://lnkd.in/dzt2g_cf #csrforparasport Institut za društveno odgovorno poslovanje - The Croatian Institute for CSR Magyar Paralimpiai Csapat Paraolimpijac Šport invalidov Slovenský paralympijský výbor #csr #csr4parasport #parasport #inclusivity #inclusive #equality #integrity *Funded by the European Union. 🎾 Tennis legend, Martina Navratilova once shared a profound insight that challenges the way society perceives disability. Her words, "Disability is a matter of perception. If you can do just one thing well, you're needed by someone," remind us that each individual possesses unique talents and strengths, regardless of their perceived limitations. 💡 Navratilova's message encourages us to shift our focus from what people cannot do to what they can contribute, fostering a more inclusive society that values the diverse abilities within our communities. 🌍 As we share this powerful quote on social media, let's spark a conversation about embracing the potential in every individual and creating opportunities for everyone to thrive. 🤝 Together, we can build a world where each person is recognised and appreciated for their unique contributions. ✨ #DisabilityAwareness #InclusionMatters #DiverseAbilities #PerceptionIsReality #EmpoweringQuotes #MartinaNavratilova #Tennis #InspiringChange #CelebratingDiversity #EveryoneHasValue #PinkRibbonCommunityServicesAustralia #NDIS #CommunityServices #Australia #SunshineCoast

Really good interview in #TheGuardian with my friend and successor but one as ParalympicsGB CEO. David Clarke OBE, PLY is ideally placed now to lead this greater activism. In 2012 we adopted the vision "through sport, inspire a better world for disabled people." The initial focus was on the sport and the athletes and their ability not just to inspire but challenge perceptions of disability. A decade on the confidence we have in that provides the platform for a more challenging agenda. How can we as society move beyond empathy and genuinely pursue inclusion in a way that enables rather than accommodates? https://lnkd.in/gCV82s-P

Too often, sports discussions focus on able-bodied and Olympic sports, overlooking para sports, athletes with disabilities, and many minority groups. Let’s broaden the conversation to include all athletes, ensuring #SportIsForAll. How can we champion inclusivity and recognition for every athlete? #ParaSports #Inclusivity
