💡 Bridging the Gender Gap: Empowering Women in Engineering for a Stronger Ontario 💡 As the demand for skilled engineers rises, it's crucial to address the underrepresentation of women in the field. In Ontario, initiatives by ACEC-Ontario and universities are making strides, but there's more to be done. With only 27% of engineering students being women, efforts to attract and retain women in engineering must continue. Encouraging trends show a 14% increase in women engineering students over the past five years. Leaders like Mary Wells, Dean of Engineering at Waterloo, emphasize the importance of diversity for innovation and problem-solving. Through mentorship, scholarships, and industry partnerships, Ontario's universities are fostering an inclusive environment for women in engineering.🚀 Read the full article from Ontario's Universities here: https://lnkd.in/eNuaF8Dh #WomenInEngineering #DiversityInTech #STEM #Innovation #EngineeringExcellence

🔬 Boosting girls’ interest in #tech is key to closing the gender gap in #STEM. A recent report by Sveriges Ingenjörer [Engineers of Sweden] by David Ekstrand underscores the urgency of increasing female enrollment in technology programs at the upper secondary level. 📈 The analysis reveals that if all municipalities had the same number of female applicants to the technology program as the top-performing municipality, Sweden would have up to 1,400 more women pursuing engineering education each year. 👩🔬 But why the disparity? Find out here https://lnkd.in/gebPFwep 🌍 These insights from Sweden can serve as an inspiration for other municipalities and even neighbouring countries to foster girls’ interest in technology. #WomenInSTEM #GenderEquality #ListentoEngineers IDA Sveriges Ingenjörer [Engineers of Sweden] NITO - Norges Ingeniør- og Teknologorganisasjon Tekniikan akateemiset TEK Insinööriliitto | Union of Professional Engineers in Finland Verkfræðingafélag Íslands Caroline Sahlén Torsten Kjellgren Charlotte Drachmann Connie Riskær-Smidt Christel Laudrup Spliid Sigrun Hafstein Marianne Kjellsen Susanna Bairoh

Africa's sustained development and global competitiveness hinge on technological innovation and engineering prowess. However, the persistent gender and skills gap in this field pose significant obstacles. According to the African Women in Science and Engineering (AWSE), women represent less than 20% of professionals in science and engineering across the continent, while a staggering 2.5 million engineers are required to fulfill the Sustainable Development Goals. As we commemorate the #worldengineeringday, it's imperative to challenge stereotypes that diminish women's contributions in #STEM fields and to actively promote engineering as a viable career path for young girls. Additionally, debunking the misconception that only top-performing students can pursue engineering programs is crucial. Anyone females who are currently in or used to be in #engineering and/or #construction careers please support me in my thesis project by completing my 15min #survey below. Thank you in advance! #womenengineers #womeninstem #stem #womenintech #engineer #women #technology #innovation #QUT #QUTEngineering, #BuiltEnvironment
Hi All, Currently, I am undertaking my Honours Thesis Project on Women in Engineering. I would like to invite women in the #engineering and #construction industry’s to complete a 30 question survey. The purpose of this research project is to determine why women leave the engineering industry in Australia and identify the barriers women face in engineering and similar industries such as construction, along with the motivating factors that encourage women into these industries. Please reach out if you have any questions. #womenengineers #womeninstem #stem #womenintech #engineer #women #technology #innovation QUT (Queensland University of Technology) QUT Engineering, Architecture and Built Environment

In 2016, the UN declared 11 February as International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The main reason for this declaration was to encourage more girls and women to take up jobs in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (also known as the STEM subjects). Figures show that although there is no significant difference in ability between boys and girls in maths and science, less than 35 per cent of graduates in STEM subjects worldwide are women and there are even fewer in engineering and information technology. #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlinScience

The Dutch network of women professors published the 2023 monitor. No good news: The percentage of women professors working at Dutch universities is 27.6%“The share of women professors increased by 0.9 percentage points compared to the previous year…This is the lowest growth rate in 8 years. Based on the growth rate of the past two years, it will take until 2045 to achieve a gender balance among professors” https://lnkd.in/e4vYaFmi
