Over the last ten years Ascent AeroSystems has been laser focused on delivering the most compact, high performance, all-weather, reliable UAVs in the world. We’ve shown that the laws of physics and the laws of aerodynamics favor the coaxial, and that sophisticated engineering can result in simple designs that deliver both high performance and reliability. Today, Ascent AeroSystems begins a new chapter as we join the Robinson Helicopter Company family. We share not only the same focus on simple, rugged, reliable and cost-effective aircraft, but also a vision of a future in which drones will transform every part of society, in ways we can’t yet imagine.  Drones will move materials and collect data in every corner of the world, entirely autonomously, managed by sophisticated networks that rival the complexity of today’s logistics and cloud computing operations. They’ll do it faster, safer and at a fraction of the cost of today’s methods. But drones based on hobby designs and consumer grade electronics will not cut it. Those future networks will require aircraft…sophisticated vehicles with the same level of safety the world has come to expect from commercial aviation. That will mean a type certificate for the design, a production certificate for the factory, an operating certificate for the network and a maintenance certificate for the repair station. That is the standard that has provided the safety foundation for civil aviation for the last eight decades. It’s a rigorous process, and there are no shortcuts. Robinson has all the necessary expertise. With nearly 14,000 helicopters delivered over five decades to thousands of customers who provide mission critical services around the world, we could not have found a partner with more experience in design, manufacture, and global support of aircraft at scale than Robinson.  So stay tuned!
