Environmental Health and Safety Specialist | 4+ Years Experience in EHS | Manufacturing | Health and Safety | Aerospace | Automotive | Environmental | Pharmaceutical
When I am asked, "how did you get started in the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) field?" 😂 In reality... There are 3 steps anyone can take to help them break into the industry. 1. Pursue a degree or certification 📜 Try to obtain a minimum of a certification related to focus on environmental or safety knowledge. Examples: OSHA 10, OSHA 30, HAZWOPER 40. With a degree try to obtain an associate's degree in safety or environmental. Some examples are Environmental Technology, Environmental Studies, Occupational Health and Safety. 2. Work part-time as a Hazardous Materials Technician ☣ 👨🔬 Many EHS fields value knowledge of hazardous waste management. An easy way to gain experience is to work with local job agencies for weekend work on local community household hazardous waste collection sites. 3. Network🤝 Very important step is to reach out to colleagues, friends, and family to let them know you are trying to enter into the EHS industry. This step helped me secure two roles as an EHS professional as some of my colleagues companies were hiring for EHS roles and I was able to get a recommendation from my colleagues. That is an effective 3 steps to help you secure your a job or to pass information along to anyone wondering how to break into the industry. #EHS #HAZMAT #NETWORK #OSHA30 #Safety #Environment

𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵, 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 🌿 🐍 Our technicians sometimes encounter unexpected challenges on the job. Recently, while installing new solar modules, they discovered a snake. Fortunately, they were well-equipped with the proper protective gear. After assessing the situation, they safely waited before proceeding with work. 👷♂️ What's your HSE moment? #HSE #healthsafetyenvironment #snake

The difference between fieldwork and corporate work as an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) professional. 1. Field Work: 👷♂️ a. Involves hands-on tasks such as conducting site inspections, monitoring environmental conditions, ensuring compliance with safety regulations at construction sites, manufacturing facilities, or other operational sites. b. Requires frequent interaction with workers, supervisor's, engineer's and contractor's on-site to address immediate safety concerns, implement safety protocols, and provide training. c. Involves assessing and mitigating risks in real-time, dealing with emergency situations, and ensuring that safety procedures are followed on the ground. 2. Corporate Work 👨💻 a. Involves more strategic planning, policy development, and program implementation related to EHS management across an organization. b. Includes tasks such as developing and implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and ensuring regulatory compliance. c. Involves collaborating with different departments such as HR, operations, and legal to integrate EHS practices into the organization's overall business strategy. d. Requires preparing reports, presenting findings to senior management, and advocating for resources to support EHS initiatives. In summary, while fieldwork involves more hands-on, operational tasks focused on immediate safety concerns, corporate work involves strategic planning, policy development, and program management to ensure a safe and compliant working environment across the organization. and best part of the corporate is u don't have have to work on Saturday and Sunday ☺️ #safetyawareness #Fieldsafety #ehscommunity #corporate
