We are happy to announce that Canada-ASEAN Business Council and the ASEAN Alliance on Carbon Markets (AACM) solified our strategic partnership on April 18, 2024 in accelerating climate action initiatives across #SoutheastAsia. 🇨🇦🌏 The event was attended by high-level representatives from ASEAN member states, the Canadian government, and the Canada-ASEAN business community. Among the distinguished attendees were Sandiaga S. Uno, Indonesia Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary General of ASEAN; H.E. Vicky Singmin, Canadian Ambassador to ASEAN; Diedrah Kelly, former Canadian Ambassador to ASEAN and the inaugural Executive Director of the Indo-Pacific Agriculture & Agrifood Office. Also present were representatives from the ASEAN Member States including H.E. Bovonethat Douangchak, Permanent Representative of the Lao PDR to ASEAN, as well as Mr. Oudet Souvannavong, Chair of ASEAN-Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC), Mr. Bernardino Vega, Alternate Chair of ASEAN-BAC Indonesia 2023. This collaboration will focus on capacity building, technical assistance, and promoting the development of regional carbon markets. “We believe collaboration is crucial in tackling climate change,” stated Wayne Farmer, President of CABC. “Through this partnership, we aim to maximize our impact and support ASEAN’s transition to a low-carbon future.” “This partnership is a significant step towards a more sustainable Southeast Asia,” said Dharsono Hartono, Permanent Chair of AACM. “We are excited to work with CABC to leverage carbon markets for both environmental and economic benefits.”
