Starbucks announced changes that will take effect this month designed to: *Reduce order wait times. *Meet demand more easily during the busiest times. *Teach baristas to use "simplified, more intuitive steps" to create orders. Two things I love about these changes: 1. They were developed based on feedback received from their "partners" - their front-line team members. 2. The introduction of a new position, "Peak Play Caller" whose job during peak periods is to help figure out where bottlenecks are likely to happen before they do and find ways to help. Introducing a new position means more work for HR teams, but creates another career advancement opportunity for team members. Listening to frontline employees and giving them greater #career advancement and #workforcedevelopment opportunities are two huge wins in my opinion. Inc. Magazine article in comments.

Prioritizing the well-being of the employees! 💡 Howard Schultz [Former CEO of Starbucks] joined Starbucks ☕ as the Director of Retail Operations and Marketing in the early 1980s. At that time, Starbucks was a small coffee retailer with a handful of stores in Seattle. During a trip to Italy, Schultz was inspired by the vibrant cafe culture and envisioned creating a similar experience in the United States. ☕ A very long time ago, shortly after college, I was once a coffee slinger. The term "barista" hadn't caught on yet. It was fun, but also hard work. (It doesn't have to be unfun to be hard work!) Customers had attitudes and entitlement. Machines broke down. Maintenance was never done. (Some things don't change even with career changes! haha) Mad rushes in the mornings and afternoons. The espresso mocha shakes were traps ready to be sprung - especially with cookie-dough ice cream. 😆 There were behind-the-scenes duties like cleaning the bathrooms, uncloging sinks and toilets, and sweeping the premises. I even got assaulted trying to break up a couple fighting with real live fists. Anyone who claims that these workers are having an easy time are showing their disdain for workers. I support these workers striking against Starbucks. I hope the company will heed their plea for betting working conditions and fair pay. And I support their unimpeded right to organize, unionize and walk off the job - and to prevent Starbucks from hiring scabs. #starbucks #strike #workers #workersrights #solidarity

This is the second time in less than a week, I am seeing a reference to how important it is to treat your employees. Starbucks has been in the news quite a bit lately. After reporting higher than expected earnings, they announced plans to improve working conditions in stores, meant to help employees do their jobs better. Starbucks improved pay and scheduling headaches for in-store employees and replaced old equipment which resulted in lower turnover than the previous quarter, a win for the coffee retailer. All part of an effort to “reinvigorate the partner culture at Starbucks.” Now they are showing businesses how to take care of their employees in this new job climate, with another announcement last week. They’ve increased U.S. hourly wages and added other benefits for non-union workers. The other benefits include plans to shorten the time hourly employees must work before accruing vacation days from 1 year to 90 days as well as a North American barista championship for U.S. and Canadian employees. I prefer the taste of Dunkin' over Starbucks (unpopular opinion, I know 😂) However, when given the option, I'll typically choose Starbucks. I think Dunkin' tastes better, it's less expensive, and the line is usually shorter. So why Starbucks? Because of their customer service: the experience itself and the predictability. ✅ Starbucks employees generally make me feel good. They seem happy (or at a minimum, not UNHAPPY) to be at work. ❌ Dunkin's employees are often...rough. Tired, cranky, annoyed to be there. ✅Starbucks gets the drink right - every time. ❌ At Dunkin, I've even learned to order mine exactly how I like it (large iced, 2 cream, 1 sugar please!) but inevitably, about 20% of the time I get a super creamy, super sweet undrinkable coffee. 🤮 So, I'll go out of my way, pay more, wait longer, and choose a drink I like a little less - all for a better and more consistent experience. Anyone else? 🤔 Let's be honest, this could apply to most any purchase, specifically when it's an ongoing experience (like......oh I don't know, say....... insurance?!?) 😆 If you're choosing new hires (i.e. Account Managers and Account Executives) based on who you can get the cheapest and who's physically close enough to come into your office, I think you'll find that to be a recipe for disaster when it comes to the customer service experience for your clients. Sure, you might pay a little less in salaries, feel better justifying your office lease obligations, or tell yourself that you've created great camaraderie by having people together in-office.... But I highly suspect you're losing way more than you're gaining because of the quality of folks you're hiring/retaining and their happiness levels. Don't think for a second that your clients' satisfaction (and thus, their loyalty to you) isn't directly impacted by the quality of your service teams, and their happiness/job satisfaction. If anyone read this line during their good time then they will do more efforts for better future and if anyone read this line during their bad time then they will get a hope & courage for the good one. Here is the best example which relates to this line which says that, "Every situation comes with bunch of opportunities." But what truly defines a partnership? • Pursuit of common objectives. • Shared investment. • Distribution of risks and rewards. The first - pursuit of common objectives - was embedded in the contract. But the rest? Enter 𝘏𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘻, then CEO of Starbucks, with a revolutionary proposal that has become a cornerstone of the company’s culture: the '𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮.'
