This is a critical share for two groups: 1. Network and friends in Texas and Surrounding areas and 2. All parents. #Texas area: Last Tuesday a 14 year old girl went missing from her home in #SanAntonio, Texas. I cannot imagine how scared and upset her parents are. If you see Addison or have any information, please report it at the number provided in the article. https://lnkd.in/gTmuUv56 #Parents: After she went missing, her parents found chat messages with a man on #Roblox about meeting up the day prior. However, it didn't start there. She had been chatting with "friends" online and her clothing and appearance started to change. These are all red flags. The #1 most important thing is finding this missing child, but for the parents out there, a couple safety tips can help keep your child safe. 1. Keep kids off social media (for as long as possible). Their brains aren't developed and there are many mental and emotional dangers on top of trafficking risks. 2. Know what and who your children are interacting with online - yes, read their messages. They may hate that you are invading their "privacy" but this is for their safety. 3. Many apps, like Roblox, have settings that can lock down interactions to friends (Friends = People your child knows in person) or to completely disable chat. See Roblox info here: https://lnkd.in/gkcbCaWh 4. People can pretend to be anything they want online. This is becoming easier with #AI. Educate your children on the dangers of interacting online, not to scare them, but so that if they see something or feel something that is off, they come and tell you about it. Please help us find Addison, and keep all children safe online.

First, and foremost, I'm praying this little girl is found safe. 🙏 We had to have a conversation with our sons this weekend about parental controls and guidance on mobile devices. They were upfront with us and told us their friends were trying to help them bypass the controls. Luckily, we've scared them to death with all the stories about cyber stalking, sextortion, etc that they actually wanted our help in explaining to their friends why they should not bypass those controls. I have to admit, we were very proud. I told them that I've never met a parent that said, "How can I make my child's life harder? If not harder, how can I ruin their day or make them very mad at me?" This isn't a thing. If we're denying apps or telling you to stay away from sites, it's because we've read some news about how those media outlets were used to abduct or harm kids. We love you and we want you to grow up with us, physically and mentally healthy and strong. The boys said they would take this back to their friends and encourage them to remain within the borders their parents have set.

Isn’t there an OSINT non-profit that organizes CTF’s for missing folks and passes the information on to law enforcement? I’ve got to look through my posts from last year and see if I can find the name.
