I started Sundays because of my mom. She worked as a software engineer in Silicon Valley in the 80’s. After trying to balance a demanding job and raising two (later three) kids, she felt like she needed to make a choice between work and family. She decided to stay home. I’m so grateful for my time with her. But, when I entered the same tech industry 20 years later… It was to engineering teams, leadership teams, and boardrooms with very few women (and even fewer moms). As I’ve gotten older, I’ve seen a lot of the smartest women I know dropping out of the workforce after having kids. 30. years. later. They feel like they need to make the *same choice*. Today, 43% of highly skilled women drop out of the workforce after having kids. With all of the progress in technology in the last 30 years, it is crazy to think that this is such an unsolved problem. At Sundays, our goal is to get more moms into leadership. So they can reshape work for parents and families. P.S. My mom is *still* a great engineer. She's even helped us build tools for Sundays 😊 -- At Sundays we're building an executive assistant service for working parents. We accelerate parents in their careers while giving more quality time back for family.
I, too, felt I had to make that same choice 20+ years ago (and made the same one as your mom, Ashley). I never regretted my choice and would make the same one today, but I do resent the fact that I felt forced to make a choice in the first place. I love how you’re helping to solve the problem. Brava! 👏 If there is anything I can do to support you, I’m here for it.
This is my new favorite company. Will be keeping tabs on updates here, and happy to connect if there are opportunities to support this mission as you grow!
Jackie is a killer- she helped us build our recipe importer! It's live today on our meal planning app.
“Funny story”: I proposed to our HR team that offering a subscription to Sundays would be a great employee benefit. I’ve truly felt reinvigorated about my job after having the support of a Sundays VA. Sadly, our HR department, after they evaluated my suggestion, suggested that my real problem is work / life balance and advised me to speak to my people partner to help resolve.
I just wrote an article about securing a term time contract that allows me to work but be off when my kids are off 🥰 It had never been done before in the company I work at and I hope others can do the same now that it has been done! Woman should not have to drop out the work force 🥲
Love this!! Super interesting in helping you grow Sunday. Would love to chat.
Hi Ashley! Saw your profile thanks to LinkedIn algorithms. I am curious how you identified the niche of exec assistance for parents. I am looking to make an impact in this space in India, and would love to hear more about your process!
Amazing initiative.
🙌🏻🙌🏻 go mom!

4mo1) Love that your mom helped build tools for Sundays 2) I want to make sure I shout out to those mothers who decide to take a career pause because it is truly what they want to do. There is no right or wrong. It should be about what YOU WANT as a Mother/Person and not about what you feel like you 'have' to do due to lack of options and/or society's standards. I love that Sundays provides options and support for those that want to stay in the workforce, etc.
