Science has a problem. The explosion of digital communication has had some massive advantages for science, but it has also introduced some cancers that are eating away at the foundations of scientific research. Sabine Hossenfelder is one of the best science communicators on YouTube. She is a product of the new ability to make and share engaging science messages with anyone who has a smartphone, but she has a horror story about the way funding systems in academic institutions railroad research into groupthink ideas, crush scientific curiosity and grind students into slavery. https://lnkd.in/gUX-bKWr A second challenge has come from the tsunami of on-line pay-to-play journals that are now flooding the internet.
