Let's celebrate diversity and excellence together. What are misconceptions that people have about what is required to lead others? A. I think it’s a sense of intimidation or unapproachable distance toward the leader. Although having respect for a leader is a crucial aspect of a successful team, I believe that it does not come from intimidation, but rather, humility. The key difference between these two is that one forces people, while the other draws people to follow. Respectful authority comes when a leader serves to be an example through actions and words, and when they can care for each team member regardless of their social or professional differences.

Integrity, kindness, accountability are THE standard.

One of the most important things you can do for your team or business is create a culture of recognition. It’s hard to create anything special by yourself, so make sure you build up those who work alongside you. Here are a few tips: 👉 Remember to praise both privately and publicly. 👉 Be on the lookout for things to praise people for rather than what they’re doing wrong. 👉 Never underestimate the power of an encouraging or kind word. 👉 When you have an opportunity to surprise them with a reward - do it if you can. We should always reward what we want duplicated. Your team will take you farther than you could ever go by yourself - so learn to be a good team player.
